I was thinking I could be an online/ telephone parenting coach. Would you be interested in using this type of service? What would you expect to pay for this service? (With 1/2 hour sessions 1 time per week for a contracted amount of time.)

This is just a note to Belle,

"Ethnical" isn't a word. I think you meant ethical. Ethnic has to do with specific groups of people with similar racial or cultural backgrounds. Doing something ethical is doing what is right or fair.

And to the original poster, I'm not sure if anyone would pay for this type of service. Trying to do any type of meaningful counseling over the phone is tough. There is so much play in someone's body language and expressions. That, and you might have a heck of a time finding a company willing to insure you.

Have you thought about using your education and experience working for a parenting organization? Or are you looking for something you can do from home? Maybe check out being an editor for Parents Magazine or something similar?

I wouldn't use the service, but I'm sure others would. I would say to charge $8-12 a session depending on how indepth your conversations are. If someone is in need of major counseling and you refer them to seek further help, then you should void the rest of your contract.

You may be asking for a heap of trouble, do you hold a degree in counseling in order to do that? What if a parent takes your advice and something goes wrong, you may get slapped with a heavy lawsuit. I would check into the legalities.

I woudnt pay for anything like that, when there are so many free parenting advice lines out there.

I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this. But i dont think that its ethnical to be charging people for this kinda of over the phone service.

Personally I wouldn't use a service like this. I would rather ask personal advice from someone I know.

honestly think about it. most women go to their friends, mothers, etc and get advice for free. Plus, if you have more than 1 child, you already know a lot about raising kids
