my daughter was the same way, she is 6 now. the pediatrician yelled at me when she was 4 so i decided to take charge. the goal is to safely not necessarily have her lose weight, but grow and stretch the weight she has out. at mcdonalds, i get no fries, i get the apples instead, no sodas, milk instead. no seconds at meals, but if after done eating wants desserts, i let her have low fat yogurt or a plate of fruit. i have been giving her salads with fat free ranch dressing with everything on for taste, olives, cheese , some meats, eggs, tomatoes, bacon, etc. at burger king i get her apple sauce instead of fries. they usually get chicken instead of burgers and if they want a burger, i usually take the bun off. after two years, she has gone from obese to being on the borderline of normal/almost overweight. she is 6, 74 lbs, and 50 inches tall, she looks about 8 or 9. she was in kindergarten this year and could wear the same clothing as last year and will be able to use the same stuff again this year for first. the goal is to grow into the weight she has and she will stretch and grow into it if you cut the seconds and give fruit as snacks...kids love skim milk with strawberry or chocolate flavor. fat free cottage cheese over spaghetti. skim milk in their favorite cereal, dry cereal for a snack, and more! she should be a little more active too. don't make her run a marathon, but you can park at the bottom of the walmart parking lot and walk up or walk around the mall once. you can do it, we did. you can im me or email if you wanna talk more, i would've loved for someone to help me. i am from a fat family and want better for my kids

You should have her see a Pediatrician, but children grow at differnt rates, if she is eating because she is hungry, not bored then it is what her body needs to keep growing. What is needed is a balanced diet and not candy and junk food that she is eating. If you are feeding here meat, eggs, cheese, vegies, and the like with little or no sugar she should be fine. My daughter is 5 and weights about 53 pounds and there is almost n fat on her, she is also tall for her age.
There is a scale that they use to measure this age/hieght/weight ratio for children. Get her looked at and find out now. It is important to ensure that her dietary habits are formed correctly in the early years.

Yes, I think that is a bit heavy. My 6 year old boy and 8 year old girl weight 50 pounds. First you need to take a look at yourself. Are you overweight? Do you have unhealthy eating habits? If so, that is where your daughter is learning it from. You need to get rid of the sweets and buy more fruits and veggies. Go to wheat bread instead of regular. Don't let her eat as much as you. Watch her portion intake. I understand she is a growing girl, but you want her to grow up, not out. Be careful so she doesn't learn to medicate and comfort herself with food. Its a very hard addiction to overcome. Just male healthy choices and lay off the breaded foods (fish sticks, chicken nuggets). I know they are easy quick foods, but they aren't good options.

It is probably not a medical problem. All kids grow at their own rate. Kids usually eat alot right before a growth spurt. Ask your doctor, and dont be too obssesed about her size. That is a sure way to give her an unhealthy self image later, which leads to eating disorders. Not to mention she will always remember you thinking she was fat, and restricting her from stuff. Sure way to cause problems later.

My son is 5 and 47lbs. My neighbours kid is 6 and is 36lbs(realllly skinny). My dtr is 3 and weighs 37 lbs. I think all kids will vary in sizes. Try and omit junk food from the shopping list and offer water and milk as fluids. Make sure you have child portions fruits and veggies ready to go in the fridge. If she is truly hungry she will eat those and as many as she wants (within reason of course)

My son recently turned 4 and he's almost 50 lbs. He is very tall for his age and skinny. He has always been in the 95th percentile or higher as far as growth. Anyway, it doesn't sound bad to me.

Only misinformed people think it is a sin. Jesus says nothing about nor masturbating. It is a healthy activity and if you try to ignore masturbating then you will always be thinking about it. If you just get it over with then you won't have to think about it. It is child abuse to tell a kid that masturbation is a sin.

everyones bodies are different but if you are that concerned about it take her to your GP and see what they say then you can go from there.....it is probably just baby fat and coz she is tall it will more than likely dissapear when she starts playing sports and doing more exercise with school and everything.....if it is really troubling you then take her to the doc.....

See what your doc says. All children are different. I personally would only be concerned if she had fat rolls.
