Well, that depends what you mean by friend and what you mean by speak, oh, and what you mean by language...
Emily (definitely my friend) speaks, I think, English, Spanish, French, German, Greek, and Italian, maybe even some Hebrew, but I've listed them in decending order of competence and from German down she's not really fluent.
Thomas (sort of my friend) speaks Swiss German (is that a language?), High German (is that a different langauge?), and English pretty much perfectly, and Spanish I believe fluently as well. His French is also quite good--I would say better than Emily's German, and he's learning Mandarin quite seriously.
So, my answer is anywhere from 4 (languages Emily's fairly competent in) to 6 (languages(?) Thomas can converse in).

He says fourteen, but I think he's being modest, and he can speak more than that. I've seen him talk in or about more than only 14 languages. BTW, he's devoted all of his life so far to learning languages. No wonder he knows so many.

I have a friend who speaks german, english, french, italian, romanian, and serbian,
I only speak english, serbian, romanian, and a bit of spanish

My friend in Finland speaks Finnish (duh), English, Swedish, German, French and a smattering of Danish.
