As a Christian, I do not respect other people's beliefs because I believe they are wrong.

The one thing that makes it seem that christians dont respect other religions is that christianity is very much an exlusionary religion. The new testament teaches that there is only one way to God - christianity. Those who take christianity seriously tend to consider other religions as illegitimate as a result of this exclusivity.

John 14:5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"
John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Acts 4:12 "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

There are other verses, but these make my point. The New Testament teaches Jesus is the only way to God. If Jesus is the only way, other religions must be false. This mentality isn't unique to Christianity of course. It just seems more obvious because that's the religion most of us westerners are used to seeing as the dominate religion.

You statement is highly inaccurate. Many Christians respect the religions of other people, There are however, some radicals who will not tolerate anything that is not according to their version of Christianity, including the beliefs of other Christians.

It is not just some Christians who practice this behavior, some in Islam do the same. One example: Baha'is have been persecuted, tortured and killed by some Muslims simply because they wish to practice their own religion which is independent from Islam, even though Baha'is honor Islam and are under the religious obligation to be obedient to the government.

There are extremist radicals in most every religion that believe their way is the only right way and everyone else is a; pagan, heretic, or enemy.

I got a degree trying to figure out Christianity. I just couldn't do it, and I wasn't passionate enough to keep going. Here's what I got:

There are two types of Christians. The "follow the bible" Christians, and the "I'm innately just a good person" Christian. Although with the later, Christianity isn't their most defining characteristic. They just happen to be Christian.

Those "follow the bible" Christians... Those are the crazy ones. Thinking their gray answers to life's big questions are the only truth, etc. But those "I'm inately just a good person" Christians. I don't think they fall into the catagory that you're describing. They don't seem to judge people so much based on their religion.

A true Christian does respect many of other peoples religions. We cannot condone, however what we see as false teaching which would lead people away from worshiping the one true God.
What we as Christians have is not religion, it is a very personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Because He is so real to us and our lives, to some we seem narrow because we want to share that with others, that they may have the same kind of joy that we have found.

Well, that statement is false. I am a Christian. It's not that we don't respect other religions, it's just that we feel that others should follow the Bible in its exact content. A lot of other religions don't do that. They only follow parts of the Bible. However, I feel that if you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior it does not matter what religion you are.

Because each religion says that their religion is the one true faith, so (to them) it is evil to discuss other religions. After all those people are going to hell and so will you if you convert to any religion, except for their own.

That's one of several reasons why I am not religious, despite being brought up in a Catholic Church and attending church for 18 years.

How can each religion be the only one, when there are so many religions? Did God give us a multiple choice? It seems to me that everybody can’t be right, so the RIGHT religion is the one that works the best for you.

All I can say is, I honestly do not have hatred for any group, race, or religion of people. Some people may say they are christians when they really aren't (and maybe they don't even know) and they just don't have a yearning to have respect for everyone and to just pray for those who aren't saved.
Unfortunately, we all make mistakes and sin, and often times that can give bad names for any group of peoples

Don't make the mistake of thinking that the vocal fanatics make up "most Christians." I'm a Christian, but I think I'm very tolerant. Unfortunately, some of the vocal ones would say that makes me wishy-washy. Fortunately, I couldn't care less what they think of me.
Probably the vast majority of Christians are much more tolerant than you may think -- you just don't hear them making lot of noise.
If I didn't think my beliefs were right, then they wouldn't be my beliefs! You can be absolutely certain your own beliefs are correct and still not disrespect other people just because they do not agree with you.

That's a general assumption on your part, I would think. Respect is different than tolerance. One can tolerate other people and their actions and/or beliefs but they don't have to respect them necessarily. Most people will tolerate mos things without having to respect them. I haven't heard of a rabid bunch of Christians running around drawing cartoons of Mohammed - that's strictly a Dutch newspaper thing.
