I created flash movies using Flash Prof 8. I exported the movie as swf file and also as Avi file (uncompressed). Why does the swf file version look so much better than the avi file version? I exported it to avi because I intend to burn it on a VCD or DVD. Compressed avi versions are even worse. Is there a way to convert the SWF file to a movie file for burning to VCD or DVD that looks as good as the SWF file.

you can export as quicktime which should be able to be added to a VCD or DVD fine so just publish it with flash making sure the "quick Time (.mov)" option is selected in the publish options screen. Then in your cd writing software add the .mov you publish to the VCD or DVD its as easy as that.

If you have problems adding it to a DVD, download some software to convert .mov to avi or mgpgh Quick Time pro has this feature i think but i am sure there is some free software out there www.downloads.com is a good start. also http://flashkit.com has a good list of third party flash software which might have just what you are looking for and the forum has a lot of very experienced web designers that can help
