Every school district has rules for those types of situations. Some public schools allow home schooled or private school students to participate in sports teams. I would talk to your school counselor to see if your district has something in place or what you could do to initiate something.

It depends on the rules of the interscholastic sports organization of your state. They can in Washington, but only for the school in whose service area they reside, i.e., they can't just pick a school because it has good sports teams.

It really depends on your school district. In Fairbanks, Alaska it has been done.
