Why are Evangelican Christians so hateful towards others who don't believe what they believe. And most Christians, for that matter. How hard is it to be polite and kind to someone - to be respectful to anyone?

How hard is it to believe that if there is a God or Jesus that he or she would want everyone to love each other and respect the world and everyone who inhabits it?

It's ridiculous how much religion divides our world more than anything else - and if you ask me, World War III will be because of religion.

I agree with you about how religion divides people. Religion does cause a lot of strife in the world and in between people in general. Wars are started over what people believe in and people are killed over causes for which most people don't even truly understand. However, my issue with your question comes in the first paragraph.

Why are Evangelican Christians so hateful towards others who don't believe what they believe. And most Christians, for that matter.

That is such a gross generalization. If your going to ask a question like that, at least be considerate enough to say 'some' in there. It's stereotyping and generalizing people and thats just as dangerous as being 'hateful'. It's like saying "Why do all the people in America hate the middle east?" It's not polite nor intelligent to group people together like that. Maybe the twenty christians you know are hateful....

There are 1,026,501,000 Roman Catholics and 316,445,000 Protestants in the world. Yes. They all hate everyone and thank you for speaking for them.

Well your right - love is the message.... But don't forget that along with love (which is only an attribute of the system) comes the delegation of right and wrong...... Back in the day "religion" was not separated from "government". So just like in your home - there is love and love is what saves the day within the home and to use on others outside the home - there's a lot more going on to get things done, (right?) And as far as pushing it on to other people - well - what else can grown adults do together - they certainly are not going to movies together (are you're parents hanging out at the mall or going to movies with the neighbor's?) I don't think so.... And how can you be apart of a team (like the Ram's football team and walk around encouraging other football team members on the next season) you would be ridiculed off the team, you are either apart of the team and showing it's "might" or your not playing by the rules (and that's not how you play the game) so play right or go home... Ho Ho Ho, Ha Ha Ha, He He He....

I find it very interesting that the current American Christians, and Arabs, and Islams.. (that are fighting each other).. all somehow find a way to believe stories that were written down by people that wandered the deserts in "robes and turbins".. and were pretty durn ignorant.. at least were 2000 years back "in ignorant or education"... they wrote down what they believed.. (they can't prove any of it!).. and now all these Christians worship those people.. and their ideas.. It's especially funny when you consider we are now in the middle of wars with the descendents of these people and we can easily see how ignorant they are.. so how could they have been any smarter (wiser) 2000 years ago??Perhaps, if there is a God, and I believe there is, he has set this up to open the eyes of the ignorant Christians..

Please don't stereotype. Unfortunately there are many misguided Christians who feel that threatening or putting fear into people is the best way to convert them. There are others who only pose as Christians and are cruel. But not all of us are hateful towards others who do not share our beliefs. I agree with you though, that it is very sad to see so many on this forum behaving in a negative, intolerant manner. It is certainly not what God wants.

However, we must remember that we all have a sin nature and will never be perfect. We should pray that these people will speak with a softer heart, and pray that we will be led do the same. Sometimes when you have a bad day, you slip up and say things in a much more critical or sarcastic manner than you normally would. Unfortunately, that can negatively reflect on the Christian faith, but if we are aware of this, it becomes easier to improve.

Evangelicals hate evil and anything that deviates from their narrow interpretation of the BIble is heresy and therefore evil. Their interpretation of the Bible usually maximizes the amount of money flowing into the offering plates and pays for the pastor's new Mercedes. And after all, doesn't God want pastors to have new Audis to prove that they are righteous and blessed by God. After all you wouldn't expect the emisary of God to be driving a Yugo or a used Taurus would you?
Christians hate the evil that suggests that their narrow little world isn't perfect, simple, easy to understand, just follow the cook book and everything will be OK.

I agree with you to a certain point, I don't think World War 3 with start with religion. A civil war maybe in our own country.

I'm amazed at those who say they are religious show so much intolerance to others who are not of whatever faith they are. Are they not suppose to follow the bibles' lessons? Yet again, I have seen those who claim to be Christians, who go to church every time the doors are open, go out to bars, make passes at women who are not their wives and use profanity like a drunken sailor.

You got that right.I completely agree with you. There is nothing worse than a world war fueled by religious sentiments. It is going to destroy this world sooner or later unless people leave the fanaticism behind and start to live in harmony.I'd say religion should be based in home.Outside of it no one should speak nor comment nor do anything towards it.That is one way to minimise the religious tension for the time being.

it is hard for people to believe. society would buy into somethng tacky and bad before they believe this. take celebrity scandals for example......... why do we really care about things like that? because the media feeds us so much garbage.

Maybe they are taught to be that way - there are bad people in every group, but you can't classify an entire group, race, family, culture because there are a few extremists out there. I know Catholics that were taught that any people who weren't Catholic were sinners and would be going to Hell and to not associate with them. Not all Catholics took that to heart and I would never classify the whole religion based on a few overzealous pastors or parishioners. Nor should you.

So much spiritual awareness and closeness with God is lost arguing points of the dogmas, how mankind garbles up the simple command of Jesus "love God and your neighbor as yourself". Focus on this order, and stop splitting hairs and forces. You need to create a life of love instead of hiding behind words......this only prevents you from ACTING IN JESUS' NAME.
