I am so glad you asked this! It is true that you cannot see a motorcycle so good inside a car. They tend to blend in with the road, or they are not the large vehicle that is bright red or something of that sort.
I mean on a motorcycle the only thing shiny is covered up by the driver and if it is heading at you it is not visible at all.
If the driver is wearing a helmet of bright colors it helps to see them, but otherwise sometimes it is like they are invisible.
If you ride one of those death traps you need to be aware of the invisibility factor and act accordingly. If you are in a car try to rememer the invisiblity factor of the ones riding on a motor with wheels and no cage around them to keep them from bouncing off your windsheild at any time.

Brilliant observation. And to the person that said "Motorcycles are only dangerous b/c of other ppl." I beg to differ. I've known quite a few people that have biffed it with nary a car in sight. Self included.

Gravel, oil patches, deer, tire treads, decreasing radius turns.... any one of those can spell trouble.

It's not all that safe when compared to being surrounded by a steel cage on 4 wheels.

Well, it could have something to do with the fact that you are on a motorcycle. Ever since they have been on the road they have been in danger of getting hit by other cars. They are smaller with small profiles and people dont see them.

That's because you're on a motorcycle. Come on, do you expect cars to be able to see you all of the time? I'm sure some of these instances were stupid people or bad drivers, but motorcycles are SMALL. Make sure you wear a helmet all the time.

The average human brain weighs about 6 pounds, 5.99 lbs. are devoted to talking on a cell phone. Motorcycles are only dangerous b/c of other ppl.

car drivers pay more attention to anything big as their car or bigger. anything smaller will not be a bother ( except for people ). being on a motorcycle is practically riding on top of an engine with no protection, the reason why riders should be well protected with head and body gear. add to this reflective or bright colors to attract attention.

I know!!! It's like they have a visual mental block!! If it doesn't have two headlights it doesn't seem to register that you are there!
Defensive driving is the only way to stay safe...you have to assume nobody sees you and react accordingly!

try fixing up your bike so that it's louder when you accelerate. Some people find it obnoxious, but at least people will know you're there.
