People get comfort from believing there is a reason for existence, that it's not all accidental or the product of a statistical probability.

Look at it this way: if you are a believer and you die and there is no God, what difference does it make. If you are not a believer and you die and there is a God, BIG SURPRISE!

I'll answer that with a series of questions:

Why is it that the earth is placed at just the right spot in its orbit around the sun ( just 1 inch too close and we burn--just 1 inch too far away and we freeze)?

Why do we have feelings? We dont' need them to live, so why do we have them?

If we live a life full of pain and suffering (and we are all going to suffer before we die--it's called growing old) why aren't people happy when we die?

Why do people care about animals? They have never done anything to better human society, so why do we make them pets and bring them into our homes?

Why is love a basic human need? We all need to be loved to some degree--even if it's not being in love. We still need it. Why?

Why is the universe considered beautiful? It's just empty space filled with burning balls of gas. So why is it that when you look up at night and see stars, you think it's pretty?

Why do we have the ability to taste? We don't need it to live? So why have it?

Why do people wonder what life is about? Can't they just be happy to be alive?

These kinds of questions need answering, and that is why some people assume there is a God.

Why do you say no-one? How do you know that no-one knows for sure? Do you speak for everyone now? Sounds to me like you need to make up your own mind and stop listening to the people who are assuming. You do know what they say when you assume something don't you? And we certaintly don't want any of that now, do we? For you personally, if God does exist, would you be afraid of Him or curious and want to find out all you can about Him? Just a little something for you to think about.

No one knows for sure or not if there is a Sara really asking this question, so why assume that there is? Just because I can't see you post your question, doesn't mean I can't believe that you did? Well, I can look around at creation and have greater faith in a Creator, than I can that your name is really Sara. If you can understand the moral of what I have written then you will have answered your own question.

Some people DO know for sure there is a God. To me, there is more evidence for than against. Why assume there isn't when you look at the incredible design of the universe from the tiniest cell to the most far-flung star?

Silly soulless mortal, from where doest thine impunity spawn? Do you really find joy in mocking those who would bear you no ill will? Is your heart as absent of true mortal feelings as your soul that you would only believe if He came along & plopped down on a rock & displayed 'Signs' for you & you alone, like some silly parlor game? Do not petition Him like this merely because the proof which exists does not suit you or seems, to you anyways, intangible. The very fact that there exists a faith which espouses good, clean, wholesome & virtuous living & offers a simple explanation as to why it's followers should 'believe' that the very reason for our adherence to its precepts is so that we may continue to live after our mortal bodies have died is justification enough to 'assume' that God exists; For Us!

I know for sure there is a God. People wait a long time for a bus and it seems it will never come so why assume it will come if it is running late?

Have you ever read the bible? Believing in something or someone you can't see, hear or feel is where faith comes into the picture.
I believe there is God and that He's blessed me greatly. And, i'd rather live like there is a God and find out I was wrong when I die than live like there is no God and find out I was wrong when I die.

Dear Sara,
God is most definitely real. I have a simple answer for you and it never fails. If you are truly seeking to know is God is real or not, ask Him to reveal Himself to you and He will. Also, I know things happen that are beyond our understanding, but God is good all the time and He loves you.
