When I tried to add plain m&ms they melted into the treats and they turned into brown chocolatey treats that were not cute and tasted funny.

I usually make the rice krispy treats and then after they are already in the pan and JUST starting to cool, I will press all the M&Ms into the top of the treats. That way, they are not heated and will not melt. They are not all the way throughout the treats, but I have found this is the most effective way to add them

Make your Rice Krispy Treats and then press then in the pan. Then place the M & M's on top and press them in gently. This might work. I've never actually thought about putting candy in rice krispy treats. That is a great idea!

Yum, Rice Krispie treats sound good!

I think you can add m&ms when the mix cools down a little.

Or you can just put them on the top once the mix has cooled down a little.

The Rice Krispie treats cool quickly. When I tried to add M&Ms to the top, they would not stick. Most fell off. So I iced the bars then added the M&Ms.

white chocolate coating. Melt whie chocolate in a pan using LOW heat- or do it in a Microwave. Dip the treats in the melted chocolate on all sides using toothpicks or a fork, and let cool half way. When they are still slightly melted- grind up lots of oreo cookies in a blender til you have big crumbs ( keep them whole cookies witjh the filling), and roll the rice kripsie treats in the oreo crumbs, so you have white chocolate cover oreo truffle rice cripsie treats. LEt cool in the fridge

okay i havnt tried this but obviously the conventional way wont work, so you can try making a regular rice crispy treat recipe and spread it out as thin as possible onto a greased cookie sheet * i would probably spray it with pam. then after the mixture has cooled and set up, cut it into sections and build the layers with the m&m's in between like a layered cake. then you could probably zap it a couple seconds in the microwave. good luck

Well, you really can't do it without them melting. I mean, once they cool, it will be a bit difficult smashing them down into the treats. My idea is to mix the m&m's with some cool whip topping and spread on top, like an icing. Yum Yum!
