Try making some flashcards. Or have a friend make up some questions and you make up some questions and you can quiz eachother.

ok, to make it simple and essenceful, try this:
1. study overall of a chapter
2. per paragraph, take a point out of it ( easy for reference )
( eg. if the whole paragraph explain about lifestyle of ancient egyptian, then write a point of ' lifestyle' beside each paragraph)
3. after the above steps, look into each paragraph, what are the essence points to be UNDERLINED, then highlight it.
4. after the above steps, close the book. don't think about it, take a walk or do the things you like ( attention: purpose is to relax the mind and enhance the memory skill)
5. come back, having a relax and stress free mood, open up the book/ chapter again
6. have a overall view throughout the chapter, very quickly
7. then recall the points ( either by writing out to enhance your memory and to enable easy writing during exams, or just spell out)
Hopefully the above methods helps :)

First of all, remove the thought that u have to study a lot, this builds up tension. Be cool. Don't learn whole lot at a time, this leads to confusion. REvision is more important to retain what u have read. U prefer this revision with a friend which is very useful. Good luck.

Give yourself plenty of time. Skim over the lesson to get an overview of it. Underline key points. Read through the lesson once. Take a break. Ask someone to read questions at the end of the chapters to you when you feel ready to answer them. Notice the weaker points you feel you have, and bone up on them. Relax.
Study a bit each day, don't try cramming in too much at one sitting. You get over stressed, worried, and burnt out that way.

.............called team work, student team work........
I can't remember much and I hold a University Degree
I went to one private HighSchool, one College and one University. All 3 schools told me to study as a team, 3 or more students , your chances of remembering and learning and understanding what you are learning as a team are 75 % more than if you did it alone..,
The fact you are asking the question proves my point. You are seeking team work to give you confidence dat you too can do this.

Regardless of the subject matter, you must break the information down and drill. "Repetition is the key to learning!" There really is no substitution for hard work. "To get the skills, ya gotta do the drills!" Good Luck!

GET FOCUSED ON THE PROBLEM and spend the time.
First, get a quiet dedicated location such as a library.
Then read the material and work the example problems.
Repeat.
