To answer your question directly, NO... American troops should not heed your warning.
The Iraq war was over in a little under two weeks from start to finish, so whether or not it was based on lies or paid for by Wal Mart and Macdonalds in some "War for Burgers" scandal is immaterial. Its happened so get over it.
The troops are still there three years later because the politicians have not yet been able to make the peace work, and until the security vacuum is filled a withdrawal will lead to a complete social and civil collapse.
Another little history lesson for you K-9.
Iraq is a "made up" country. It never existed before 1930 and was created by the British and French as they found ways to divide up and more effectively rule their middle eastern territories.
As such it is comprised of a number of different ethnic and religious groups who at best have nothing in common and at worst hate each other with a passion.
The Kurds in the north want their own state, and by the way they want that state to include a bit of Turkey and a bit of Iran as well, so that would be a nice little flashpoint without any security forces and a unified Iraqi government wouldnt it.
The southern marsh arabs who are Shi'ite muslims have close ties and allegiances to Iran and without an Iraqi infrastructure or security mechanism would likely accede to Iran with the rest of Southern Iraq.
That would leave the middle strip of Iraq where the people are predominantly Sunni Muslims and Baathists as an impoverished country with no natural resources (all the oil is in the Kurdish North and Shi'ite south), no economy and probably somali style war lords.
Do you think that would all be a good thing?
The war happened, its done, it cannot be undone, it will only be worse on the people or Iraq, the region and the world if we now cut and run before the country is re-built.

the difference between Iraq and Vietnam can not be compared. I was caught and drafted for Vietnam when I tried to sneak back across the border from Canada over the weekend. In Vietnam, I was surrounded by other dope smoking officer fragging dredges of society much like myself. In Iraq today, the troops are all volunteers that are well trained, motivated and well equipped with good leaders. In a nutshell, my Vietnam generation was predominately losers.

Amen! Amen! "Where Have All The Flowers Gone?" sums it all up except this time the hippie and protester movement is extremely mild.
All those that support this war just like the joke of that one on Afghanistan, support it they are blinded by their religion called "America". Our gov't and military has asked for all this BS. Why do you think it is that the U.S. has military bases all over the world and no country has any military bases here? Do you think that is fair? The reason that we are at war with Iraq is because the Bush administration wants their oil. Do you really think they actually care if any of those people were liberated from under Saddam Hussein? Open your eyes and your minds and you will see the truth.

I am sorry The troops are morec sinned against than sinning. Hoe can you blame the troops for policy decisions of an elected governmment. Please note that the type of statement you make looks like you would support indiscipline or revolt in any army.No government can be run with such indiciplined trrops.
If you have to change the public opinion please go ahead and change it and with that whatever is necessary to change an elected Govt and get a newly elected Govt. Thats the only route open to you as a citizen and no other route.
What you have stated is unacceptable by any army in the world.

The war is not based on lies..Not all our troops will be shot and killed, and those that are... it will be because they are voluntarily fighting for a cause they believe in.... Our troops have and are working hard to help a country recover from a terrible evil dictator. Or troops are proud of their accomplishments and the majority of Americans are proud of them too.
Our troops will never be forgotten, neither will we forget our troops that fought and served in Vietnam.
The war in Iraq is far different from the war in Vietnam.
***Comparisons of the Vietnam war verses the Iraq war
Vietnam was a civil war that we came in to support one side against the other. Iraq was a dictatorship that we invaded to eliminate the standing government.
In Vietnam we deployed our forces piecemeal. In Iraq we went in with overwhelming force.
In Vietnam we picked targets based on politics. In Iraq we pick targets based on Military need.
In Vietnam our Politicians picked targets. In Iraq the military picks targets.
In Vietnam we were fighting Communism. In Iraq we are fighting Terrorism.
Vietnam had a strong arms supplier that operated in the open. In Iraq there are stock piles of arms but no large supplier.
Vietnam was not geopolitically important. Iraq is in the middle of the most strategic part of our world.
In Vietnam we were there to prevent the Communist from winning. In Iraq we are there to win.
Shame on you for doubting our brave troops... They will win, and you should get on your knees and thank God for America and our brave troops!

No I do not. The American Troops are there so you can enjoy the freedom to write what you want. Al Queda would love your position and join with you in demanding our troops go home. Our troops will never be forgotten and neither are those who we're lost in Vietnam. GOD BLESS THE USA and OUR TROOPS.

The Iraq War was warrented and the Americans were right to go in. They stopped a mad man from future developement of nuclear arms, they stopped him from shooting, hanging, gassing his own people. They brought democracy to a primative people and they stopped them being scared. Those soldiers are heroes no matter what the uneducated people of America think. The soldiers did not lose the vietnam war, it was the media and it the media that is doing it again. Newspaper/television editors should answer to their crimes against democracy. President Bush is brave man to stand so firm on democracy, a true American.

no, I don't think so. I don't care what your agenda is but I do care how the US troops are treated as I have family members in the Marines and they do know what they are fighting for and they do care and those few that have died will not be forgotten. You sound almost like you support the insurgency so go do the rest of us a favor and strap a bomb to your self and go sit in a car in the desert so no one else gets hurt and hit the button.

The troops are heros and will do as they are ordered. The reason soo many are dying is we didn't kill enough Iraqis to make it safe. Only when there is a showing of EXTREME force is peace possible. When the Iraqis are more frightened of the US will they lay down their weapons MAYBE we should use saddams tactics and kill all that disagree with us, But we wont we are tot kind helping ungrateful people and getting our own sons killed

that is an fairly comfortable question with no basic answer plausible. Your information elaborated the problem already rather properly. Zamboanga is an section putting me into larger alert than Manila, Cebu or perhaps Dipolog. i am going to stroll round in Manila and my in undemanding words situation is pickpocketers. Zamboanga is close by Sulu, which I (in my opinion) does no longer dare to visit as a foreigner, even if it isn't Sulu. i won't be able to visit Zamboanga (and that i did so) with out continuously gazing out for some thing unusual. yet to my information, there are infrequently more effective incidents than everywhere else. Many foreigners and (wealthy) chinese language stay there. The Abu Sayyaf, which fairly reason the angst, is neither omnipotent nor omnipresent. They were raiding sea coast hotels in Palawan or Malaysia (in undemanding words 2 cases) or putting bombs everywhere. There are also kidnapping gangs, causing perchance the actual probability to the foreigners and wealthy locals. i'd recommend you, to be nonetheless careful, provide your self a low profil, stay faraway from the seashores and do not get into any quarrel in besides. yet on the different hand, if it truly got here about and also you'd be abducted, than you've in all likelihood an fantastically very not common time, and your existence it in probability truly. you are able to also develop into the sufferer of a bombing, which ensue seldom, even if it ensue. also, inspite of the actual undeniable actuality that it is your least difficulty, all of us will blame you for ignoring the valid advices. note of that (study for instance the tale of the sufferer Gracia Burnham) and choose heavily. on the proper in undemanding words you are able to make sure. i in my opinion dare to visit Zamboanga yet does no longer pick to stay there completely, because this would propose (my effect), you are able to develop right into a objective finally. playstation : Many Christian Filipinos would in no way visit Muslim Mindanao in any case (in the journey that they ought to settle on to visit MM or the moon, they might pick the moon :)), so that they might continuously recommend antagonistic to it.
