if you are going to run into her eventually be honest and tell her you wanted to try out someone new. if you arent that close just go to someone else. i wouldnt lie if theres a chance she could catch you. whatever you do be nice and respectful because if the new stylist messes up youre going to rely on the old one to come through and fix it for you!

Be honest and up front. We sometimes get stuck in a rut with a client's hair. Just tell her you want to check out a stylist a friend recommended and that she didn't do anything to chase you away.
She should appreciate you being honest and this way she won't wonder what she did wrong and it leaves the door open in case you want to go back to her.

Clients come and go and it is never easy to see a favorite client or a friend go to someone else, but being honest instead of just disappearing or sneaking off to another stylist will help ease the disappointment.

Just schedule an appointment somewhere else. When she sees your new "do" and comments on it, you can tell her where you got it done. If she asks why you didn't come to her, you can tell her you got it done on a whim, and you hope she likes it. She likely won't ask anything else.... It's your hair and you don't owe her your business... if she's truly your friend she'll accept and appreciate that.

Well, I'd tell her that I'd love for something new and you found a new place. Tell her that you want to try it and if you hate come back to her but if you really like the new place just tell her that you like your new look and you want to try her for awhile if she is your friend she will understand.

oh that is hard- i went cold turkey and didnt look back, and when i occasionally go to someone else than my now-regular i explain that i was on "vacation" and it was impulse. But since yours is a friend hopefully she would understand that while its not personal, you need a change!

if shes an everyday friend, she will get over it, if not just dont go back and dont call her or tell her you are cutting it yourself. But im a guy what do I know about hair.

Just stop going and when she asks, tell her you tried a new stylist and liked what she did. Remind her business is business.
