you may not need to have any teeth pulled out with the new technology involving orthodontics now. Ask you dentist/orthodontist about invisalign (clear braces which arent attached and are only removed for eating or cleaning, you have a set which you wear for 2 weeks each time). There is also damon 3 brackets, visit www.ormco.com/damon. there is often no need for teeth to be removed, treatment time is 6 months less than conventional treatment and is less painful. they are very tiny and you do not need to wear elastics (which is the most cause of friction pain), the wire clips in and out which means less chairside time and discomfort for you, less force when moving is good for adult ortho care. I have them in at the moment. prob with invisalign is you often need to wear brackets after to get the best result. Have a look at the sites and talk to your orthodontist again

You're not too old, it may just be to help the other move more easily in the process of straightening your teeth. If you were to leave all the teeth in your mouth it might cause more pain or make the process longer than it needs to be. I am sure if you wanted to you could leave the teeth in, but it would probably take much longer and be quite annoying. I think you should go ahead with the removal of your teeth. Good Luck! (And I suggest Invisalign or clear braces for straightening your teeth! If your not already doing so. Less noticeable.)

You are never too old to make your smile prettier. Seeing as you want to straighten your teeth it means you are unhappy about the way your teeth look and wish to have a nice healthy smile. Plus if there was an age limit your doctor would have told you so, but if you still have concerns share them with your dentist and they can answer any additional questions. Go for it plenty of adults get braces the problem is dealing with the metal mouth you will have and occasional cutting it does to your cheeks. But if that is a concern then try Invisalign they are clear and will not cut your mouth. This way you can straighten your teeth and not have everyone in your business. Good luck. I have given the link to the site below.

Hmmm this is a tough one. It is possible for it to be done at your age but it will take a much longer time and more pain (extractions) than it would have when you were at a younger age. Your bones have already hardened which makes the straightening of your bite/jaw much more difficult. If you really want straight teeth it is worth it in the end but only if you are ok with lugging around braces for probably a long time.

My dentist pulled a some of my teeth prior to putting on my braces, I was 32 at the time and had absolutely no problems. Everyone is different, but I would think that if you are healthy and don't have any major issues it shouldn't be a problem.

MIne are fine, The whole reason they are doing this is to make room for them to move them. My grandfather had 2 teeth removed when he was in his late 20's and had such a perfect smile when he was 60 that the doctors asked him to take out his dentures when he went in for surgery. They were still his real teeth, if the orthodontist think's it will help, chances are that it will

Your not too old but you will probably need braces longer than the younger folk. You will be very happy with the end result with beautiful straight teeth.

You can get a clear gumshield moulded to your teeth. You can use the sports ones (they're a little bulky for everyday use) but if you want to wear them at night, you can. The best bet is to go to your dentist and ask them if they can mould you a gumshield/clear retainer to find the optimum position of your teeth.

A friend of mine got braces in her late 40 and she had no problems at all. If your dentist says it is ok I would go for it. I work with a lot of people who have gotten braces in at a late age. I say go for it.
Good Luck Friend
