He stinks like vet.
She hates that.
Seriously, once his smell returns to normal, everything should be fine.

My cats have always done the same thing. Whenever one of them comes home from a visit to the clinic, the others are mean and hiss and stuff. I think it is the smell of the hospital and other smells they pick up while at the vet. It always wears off in a day of two and they all go back to normal being friends and playing together and stuff. Try not to worry. They will all be ok.

Often, when you bring another cat home -- they still smell like the hospital they were at, so the other cat will not recognize them.
I work at an animal hospital and what we recommend to do is get a shirt or a towel or something out of your laundry, rub it on one cat, then the other, then back on the first cat. This helps them recognize the smell of each other.

Maybe the smells of other animals from vet clinic, but I would keep your female cat in a seperate room, so your other cat has time to heal properly and away from stress. If injured, he may wind up back at your vet sooner than later.
Good luck, T

Same thing happened to me, our female was SO mean to our male when we brought him home from being neutered, (and he is her son). It lasted a few days until she couldn't smell the vets office on him and then they were best friends again.

He SMELLS funny!
That's normal. Just try to pet him and cuddle him and rub him and give him lots of extra attention because he's just been through an ordeal and his housemates are being mean to him. The smell will wear off in a day or two -- sooner the more you handle him -- and then they'll settle back down.
Good luck!

It is because he smells different. This is how cats recognize each other the majority of the time. Is the female spayed, by any chance? By the way, thanks for neutering the male.

(if she is not fixed)... she is probably really upset that he doesnt want to get "near" her anymore because he feels he has no gender. She ont he other hand is different.
Get her spayed and then things should go back to normal.
