People who do not love their neighbors unconditionally enrages me. Christianity, which many anti-gay-rights people cling to so deseperately, fail to either:
A) Comprehend what they are saying
B) Read the Bible entirely.

Is homosexuality an abomination? Doubtful since God loves unconditionally. But if we were to play Devil's Advocate and say that it was, we should also probably quote other "abominations" unto the Lord:
Red Lobster (shellfish)
Old Navy Clothing (polyester)
Colgate (shaving)
Bugs Bunny (rabbits)
McDonalds (working on a Sunday)
Tomatos and Celery (vegitable gardens)

Quote one, quote them all I say.

And to further answer your question: Forcing a child into heterosexuality is cruel. Let him make his own descion in good time.

I guess I didn't read it enough to see anything mentioning "violent" conversion to heterosexuality.

It's a tough call for a parent, because no matter the decision they make regarding attending a gay child's "wedding", they will feel heartache. If the child truly loved it's parent, they would understand that to go against their religion is not an option for them.

But what parent doesn't want to see their child happy?

I read the question, answered it. And I can't believe what hateful comments the Christians wrote. It grossed me out. Isn't it hypocritical? They say "I will disown my child if they are homosexual, because they chose to lead evil lives", yet they preach about their loving deity. Yeah right! That makes me want to convert right then and there, now, doesn't it?

These bigoted morons are all filthy hypocrites. Anyway, that was my little rant.

Oh my gosh! Those people are horrible! I don't understand how someone, anyone, could disown a child! I myself am not a parent, but I can't understand how anyone could turn away from someone they gave life to. That's horrible. Even if you don't agree with their choice, you don't have to stop loving them! I mean, it's not like they murdered someone! Of course I would attend their marriage, even if I didn't enjoy it. You can love a child without loving everything they do. That's a parent's job after all.

I didn't read a lot of force into this, but maybe you did. Maybe you are relating to this person thinking that your folks would force you to be straight. There were a lot of different answers.. I didn't get a lot of violently..

The people answering probably do not even have children. When you have a child; you accept them whether they are good or bad, gay or straight, etc.

Of course as a parent, we will try and encourage them to be straight, good, etc. But, in the end, you accept them for who they are!

No its not. Your child will be who they want to be. Whatever you try to force onto them they will eventually come to hate. And then they will hate you, for the violence and hatred you put them through during the years.

I read some of the answers and I only hope these people don't call themselves Christians. I know that Christ doesn't want His name misused like that.God is love!!!!

If your child was starting to take drugs wouldn't you try to force them to do what was right. Because we love our children we do whatever we can to keep them from evil.
