I was curious as to the reasons there’s a distrust of atheists and in many cases a strong hatred towards a group who’s only real connection to each other is a lack of belief in a God.

No Many non believers are much kinder in many ways than believers. That is a sad thing to say but it is true. Christians can sometimes be very inward looking and even self righteous!
Of course not all are like this but some are.
However where you find charities and good causes you will also find lots of Christian people there too.

No, as a Christian I can truthfully say you do not need a faith in God to carry out acts of kindness and Charity. Anyone with care for his/her fellow man can do so.
Like wise, what God are you speaking of? There are many gods. You can make anything your god. However there is only one God of the universe.
Many if not most Christians believe that if you do not have God or Jesus in your life that you are not to be trusted or cared about. They do not realize they are failing Jesus' commandment to love your neighbour even as you love yourself. The God of the universe says that He loved us while we were yet sinners, yet many Christians fail to apply this love to everyone they meet, Christian or not. This is why Christians have such bad reputations as being harsh towards everyone who is not a Christian. They are very bad about judging others totally believing they are doing God's will. They are so very wrong. I wish they would learn to do God's and Jesus' will in their lives.

Not at all. I'm sure that there are a lot of athiests who are much kinder and generous than Christians. The thing that separates Athiests from Christians is a faith in Jesus Christ. It doesn't mean that Chrisitans are better people than Athiests, it just means Christians have been saved and forgiven through faith in God.

no of course not. they are saved by Grace and Grace alone. they must have faith to enter heaven. but not to do good. Hell will be full of good people. All the acts of kindness and Charity mean nothing unless you do it with a full heart and with the Grace of God.

I believe that one needs to have faith in something or someone, who is a spiritual, higher power or God, or they won't have the understanding or the inclination to feel empathy for another person. Believeing in somthing greater than yourself gives you the faith in yourself, that is needed in order to get in that frame of mind.

No, I believe that people can do acts of kindness and charity, and still not believe in God. Personally, I do believe in God, but God put it in my heart to look on the love of a person, not their sins. I believe that god works through all kinds of people. Actually I believe that God looks for the love within peoples hearts, as through His Son, He gave us two commands. To Love God with all our hearts, and to love thy neighbor as thyself. And if we obey one of those commands, will merit the love of God. When you love Gods beings, He accounts it as love for Him, even if you don't know Him.

You don't need it do good things. But not all who do good things will be entered into heaven. Read the bible to know what to do. Then you can gain faith from there.
