You should get a couch throw that is easy to wash and looks good, unless you want to constantly be vacuuming and cleaning. Scotch Guard material works good for stains but I don't know about pet hair release. A good lint brush like you use on your sweaters works well sometimes and I've even used Duct Tape in an emergency. Good luck and enjoy your pet. We put up with this stuff because of the unconditional love they give us. I am a fellow pet worshiper with a hairy dog and I deal with it everyday.

I have a white cat that sheds alot and we bought a microfiber couch. The hair still sticks, but it comes off pretty easily when I wipe it with my hands.

Get the kind of couch you want. Cat hair is very easy to remove with a damp paper towel--try it!

a washable cover for your couch would be perfect. Take it off when the hair gets really nasty and throw it into the washer.

If you can't do leather, then go with a lighter colored couch- with a good pattern.
