This is a very subjective question and depends upon ones' personal taste.
What is offensive to you might be tasty to me, and vice-versa.
So...here's what I would suggest:
Depending on where you buy your fries and what you'll be eating or drinking with it, you might consider
1. malt vinegar (goes great with fried fish and a cold lager beer;
2. Hellmann's Real Mayonnaise or sour cream;
3. seasoned salt (with a dash of paprika (and a cold beer or Dr. Pepper to wash it down;
4. a few dashes of just plain sea salt.

Again, this depends on where you buy your fries and how they season them.

I've had fries in Europe that were to die for (that's where I had my first 'fish-n-chips' with vinegar...and the one with paprika.

I've had thick-cut, well-seasoned fries at the ballpark which were excellent.

I highly recommend Ore-Ida Extra Crispy Golden Crinkles with Hellmann's mayo.

And if it's just plain McDonald's fries...stay with their brand of catsup...it doesn't need anything further.

Here in Montreal, mayonnaise is a choice for Belgian-style french fries, or a personal favourite, curry-flavoured mayonnaise which I think is great.

Also, we have poutine here which is fresh potato french fries tossed with cheddar or gouda fresh cheese curds(it's a fresh cheese that is very mild in taste and melts easily like mozzarella) and covered with a BBQ or Beef gravy which I also like.

Ranch, Tartar Sauce, Mayonaise, and mainly any other sauce..it depends on your taste...ive tried Lays potato chips dipped in milk chocolate and it tasted very good...i think it would taste the same with fries since theyre both fried potatos (basically)

Lots of my friends enjoy french fries with mayo. I have found ranch and marinara sauce (not mixed together though) can be nice for dipping fries.

try using ranch dressing, or a mixture of catsup and mustard, A-1sauce and catsup, or tartar sauce (and catsup)if need be.

Fry sauce.
It was available everywhere out west, but now I live on the east coast and can't find it anywhere.
It's a mixture of ketchup, mayo, vinegar and a few other things I think.

The southwest sauce from arby's or the spicy sauce from burger king, it used to be onion ring sauce but I don't know what they call it now. Oh, white gravy is really good, too.

There isn't much you can put on french fries that doesn't taste awesome. Really just depends on your personal taste.
