OK...you have one element of your new room. Now what you need is to find something like a piece of art, a swatch of fabric or a painted plate that has these two colors in it..really one....tan. The piece you pick will have all of the accents in it as well, so you can pull out one or two other colors. I don't think green would do with that tan and white. Go for something bolder. Blues with browns and tan/white are very urban chic today. Or color block one wall with morocan red; believe it or not, purple works great with reds. Use your accents in any color that you like. Just pick out that thing that "calls" you and has your name on it...base everything in your room around it. It will work!

The set is very neutral. You could go almost any color you wanted. A light green kinda sage would look good. Or a light lavender with a little hint of gray. Or you could go bold and do reds and oranges. I think the best would be to have your accessories have all of the "bold" color and the main parts of the room be more neutral. That way when you tire of the color you can easily change accessories and not have to paint the entire room.
Fave Idea: You choose reds and oranges. Paint the walls creamy white (I know you don't want these) and the trim in a orange brown. Have window treatments, pillows, sheets, shams, throws and rugs be in your reds and oranges. This way you get splashes of color throughout the room. An easy way to have a new carpet is to buy a painters drop cloth at a home improvement store. Buy paint in the color you want and paint the drop cloth (red and orange stripes would be cool). Coat with polyurethane for longevity.
Idea: You choose sage green. Paint the walls green and have accessories be tans, light blues, creams and light yellows. Splash a green vase or some green trim on a pillow to tie together.

This could depend on a lot of things. A "hot" color right now is brown. Even doing the wall behind the bed and then a contrasting tan on the other walls would look really great.
And don't forget that paint quality is very important. (My favorite is Benjamin Moore.)
And about the trim.... I usually like either bright white or classic black for trim.
It's all about personality though, so if you like light green and a cream trim then go for it! You're the one who has to look at it every day.

I think light green would make your room look too much like a safari...if that is the look you are going for then I guess the light green would work. But I think I would go with a color that is in the comforter. I know you are anti beige walls but I think beige walls with light brown trim would look best. Or if you are really daring maybe light brown walls with beige trim or with a darker brown trim.

Don't go with a color that is to loud, or bright. You will get sick of it, in a very short amount of time. Stick with earth tones, and warm natural colors, from nature. your idea, of using light green or a cream color, is a very good one, and any of those colors will look great with the comforter, you choose. If you go with light green for your walls, then consider a darker green for your trim, and if you go with a cream color for your walls, then consider a darker cream color for your trim. Also consider sea foam green, for your walls and a darker beige tone, almost a light brown for your trim. I think this would look great with the comforter set you have choose. Your instincts are good, stick with them, and use your imagination. The comforter set, you picked out, looks really extremely relaxing.
Good Luck, take your decorating slow and don't jump in, and do something you will regret, you will have to live with your choices, for a pretty long time.

Anything will look good..it's a neutral color. It just depends on whether you want to go bold or keep neutral.
I would go for a blue. Blue and that tan khaki would come out really nice. But not a pastel baby blue or a navy blue. A nice blue with a cream colored trim..that would bring out the blanket real well.

HEY DARE TO BE A LITTLE DIFFERENT. I AM NOT GOING TO SUGGEST ANYTHING COMPLETELY OFF THE WALL FOR BEGINNERS, BUT HOW ABOUT PAINTING YOUR ROOM BEIGE, ALL EXCEPT FOR THE WALL THAT THE BED IS AGAINST. USE THIS WALL TO ADD SOME DRAMA. PAINT IT A DEEP RICH RED COLOR. THEN TIE IN THE REST OF YOUR ROOM WITH A FEW RED ACCESSORIES. LIKE RED ON A THROW PILLOW, A VASE, SOME POTTERY. BE IMAGINATIVE. IF YOU DON'T LIKE RED, TRY A DEEP PURPLE. WHATEVER YOU DECIDE, IT NEEDS TO BE A DEEP BOLD COLOR. YOU MIGHT EVEN TRY GOING TO OUR LOCAL HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE IF YOU ARE NOT FOND OF MY IDEAS. THEY USUALLY HAVE SOME PAMPHLETS OR IDEA CARDS. POSSIBLY EVEN A BOOK. THE COMFORTER IS GREAT.

Light green would be nice, if you go to Sear's the Ty Pennington collection (Ty Style) has a really nice green called Pistachio, it looks really great in all different lights, we had it in our living room in our old apartment. It sounds like it might be kinda gross but it looks really good so you should check it out. Try going to Sears or any other paint place and they should have chips that you cna put on the wall to help you decide.

Depends on what you like. If you want something bold, you could even go with a red that would compliment it. You could do a purple/lavendar color.
Light green would look nice, but you want to make sure it blends with the rest of your house. So, if your house is more of a contemporary/modern, you'd want to go with something more bold. If you are more of a country-type, green would be okay.
My house is both country & contemporary, so we have bold walls to bring everything together. I don't know how it worked but it did. :)
Have fun!
