They were sweet and red, and they left red coloring all over your teeth, but mostly in between. (Now that I think of it, I bet there was no trick to it, anything you eat ends up pretty much between your teeth.)

Yeah. I remember a few times when they would be giving them out when I was in school. I don't remember what they tasted like, but I do remember they were like a pinkish-red kind of color. I always thought they were pretty cool actually. I wish I could find some of those now. I have an 8 yr old who apparently thinks brushing her teeth is torture. LOL. The real torture is fighting with her about it all the time. I also have a five yr old with autism and I have to brush her teeth for her. It's kind of hard to tell how good of a job I'm doing cause she fights me tooth and nail. Those pills would come in really handy for her. I hadn't even thought about them in more years than I care to admit, but thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I remember those pills too when i was a kid. They were actualy pills containing a dye that stained the plaque that was on your teeth. Most of the time the dentist had me chew them before he cleaned to make a point of how good I was or wasn't brushing.

Yes they are still around. We give them out to schools and kid groups upon request. They are best used in this order. Brush first as you normally do then chew, to reveal where you normally miss. If you normally miss in between your teeth then that is where you will see it most.

Ask your dentist.

Yeah, I had to chew those nasty things when I had braces. Yuck, I hadn't thought of those in like 20 years. They stained where you had plaque, that's why they got bright red inbetween the teeth.

Yes! I thought they were great....I still see them in the drugstore (see link for one of the current brands available) and I keep thinking I should do it again, since my dentist found three cavities last visit, and I brush and floss daily!

We had purple ones. that was crazy and kind of scary, those things are probably the reason why I brush for like ten minutes everyday.
