Teens need more calories than adults because they're still growing. Most teen girls need from 1800 to 2500; most teen boys need from 2000 to 3000. My advice? Don't count calories; it's frustrating and it gets old really fast. Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet with limited sweets and keep active, and you should be fine.

If the teen is active, 2500. If the teen is not active, 2000. If the teen is sedentary, then 1800.
