This informative article is helpful:
Thermo-Auricular Therapy (Hopi Ear Candling)
Hopi ear candles are named after the Native American tribe who first introduced this gentle therapy to the West. Ear candles are used widely throughout North America and Asia and although the current treatment has come to us from the Hopi tribe, the use of ear candles to treat ear problems has been known for centuries, having been used by the Egyptians, Romans and Greeks.
The Hopi candle is not a candle as such, but a hollow tube made out of cotton flax. To stiffen the flax, they are impregnated with extract of honey and herb oils (in particular chamomile, sage and St Johns Wort), the healing properties of which have been known to the Hopi tribe for hundreds of years. The making of the candles is a complex process and all genuine Hopi candles are made in the traditional manner. I use only original Biosun Earcandles, which are still made by hand today using the traditional recipe and the finest regularly tested ingredients.
The candle is placed over the ear orifice and ignited. A light suction (chimney effect) creates a vibration of air within the ear candle, generating a massage-like effect on the eardrum. This creates a pleasant feeling of warmth and a balancing of pressure within the ears, forehead and sinuses. The candle is only allowed to burn to within 4 inches of the end of the candle. The treatment is repeated on the other ear and then a complete facial massage is carried out, paying particular attention to the sinus areas.
Ear candles can help with the treatment of sinusitis, rhinitis, hayfever, excess earwax, glue ear, vertigo, travel sickness, earache, irritation of the ears, tinnitus and even snoring. It is also suitable for the treatment of headaches and migraines. It is not suitable for those with perforated eardrums, where grommets are in place or those who may have an allergy to the ingredients. It is a safe and gentle treatment for children.
The number of treatments required depends on how long the candle takes to burn down, but an initial course of 3 treatments is normally recommended. Each treatment takes approximately 45 minutes and is very gentle and relaxing. Allow one hour for the first treatment to give sufficient time for an initial consutation prior to the treatment.

I had my hearing damaged by an incredibly loud roadworks machine years ago. I can understand why it drives you nuts. The solution that I used for a long time was having my radio on, quietly, while I lay in bed. After a while you get used to it and start getting to sleep easy. My tinnitus seams to have reduced as the years have gone by, either that or I've got used to it. An alternative to a radio would be a fish tank with one of those bubble machines, you don't need any fish in it; just the bubbles to create background noise. The brain does eventually filter out tinnitus, but don't hold your breath, I've been waiting 15 years. I hope that these suggestions help.

of course any doctor will say that ear candleing is a hoax...they dont make any money off it it if you can do it yourself!!!!
It doesnt seem that it would work for that though.
Snoring is caused by vibrations of the soft muscles and tissues in the back of the throat and at the top of the mouth..you need to strengthen those muscles and firm and thicken them up. In England they are curing apnea and snoring with specialized singing lessons and throat excercises. I have included 2 links below for you to look at.

I haven't heard of it for treating snoring. But maybe you should try it, it is amazing how much better you will feel after and be able to hear. Don't listen to those that call us "morons or idiots" for getting it done. It is not a hoax.
