You can fly anywhere in Thailand for about $30 on http://www.airasia.com
If you eat local Thai food from vendors on the street, you have to try to eat a lot to spend $10/day. Super cheap and super good. Keep in mind that food portions are about half what they are here at restaurants. A medium Dairy Queen blizzard gets you a dixie cup. haha
You can stay in a safe hotel for under $30/night. Look for "Max One House" about a half mile from the BKK airport in Bangkok. They pick you up, drop you off, and are very accomodating.
If you go down to the Phuket area, expect to pay more but food from vendors is still cheap and you can get nice hotels for cheap.

Thailand is one of the most inexpensive place to visit. $10 you can get a 2 hour full body Thai massage, and $8 you can eat a world class seafood buffett at the top of 4 star hotel, a fresh coconut served at your beach chair on beach is less than $1. Since i don't know how long and where you are staying, so won't tell you how much to bring. but for meal and entertainment, is very cheap, $20 per day is very decent.

For 10 days in Bangkok: US$3000 - Like a king(Big Spender) US$1000 - Normal life. Restaurant occasionally.Save on some unnecessary stuff US$500 - Go for some sight seeing and eat stuff along the road. Depends what you want? - Lady? - Shop like crazy? - Partying? Every night or One time? - Must eat restaurants? How often? Traveler checks is not really usable in most parts of Bangkok. So, change to thai Baht is more logical. Just be careful on your personal stuffs.

If your 23 years old and going to Thailand for the first time and plan to bring a girl home your out of your mind. I bet you met the girl on the internet and fell in love. Never fall in love on the internet. Come over met her have a good time then go back home and really think about it. Your girl friend may love the idea of coming to American but when she has no sumton to eat and it's 10 degrees out she going to cry and want to go back to mommy in Thailand.

Dude,
I agree with "nowhereman". I've been here for more than 3 years now. Almost everything is cheap!
And yes, like nowhereman said, don't take the girl home yet. Know her first. I have heard a lot of stories and some of them from my friends that these women (not all) will only like you at first. After a couple of months, they get bored and starts looking for another. They would ask you for a house, land, vehicle then leave you penniless. Then go look for greener pastures.
Think twice dear. If you needed more advice and information you can email me at ladycroft39@yahoo.com.

Well, based on your other question, I assume you have been here?? - - or why would you want to bring a girl home with you?
ok - if not - you can live inexpensively here - guesthouses as cheap as a few bucks a night - food and transport is cheap.. the girl will undoubtedly cost.. but bring your ATM card - if you have one.. if not you might want to open an acct that has one and then you can have access to all your available $$ w/o keeping it in your back pack..

If you want to have fun and not worry about money, then bring about 200 dollars a day. If you are going to travel, do it in style. If you are going to sleep in dumps and under bridges you can do that without leaving home.
You can have a blast !

In general Thailand is great and has good value for money.
But be aware, Thailand has his charm and this can be costly.
If you want to be on the save side (your flight from the states and return + accommodation booked and paid) a 50-60 US$ which is approx. THB 2,400.00 daily would be enough.

your budget depends on how long you will be in Thaialnd and the places you would like to visit... here is a roungh estimate for you budgeting
1. accommodation: around 50US$/day
2. food: around 10US$/day
3. local travel: around 15US$/day (assuming moderate travel)
4. entertainment and miscellaneous: around 20US$/day (also depends on type of expenditure you intend to take up)
Hope this will be helpful for your trip.. BTW, you will be paying in local currency (Thai Baht) which is now around 38baht/US$...
