You must do a complete drive around the island. Don't forget to go up towards Tantanlus Drive, there you can look down and see the downtown area of Honolulu also get to see Waikiki from there also. While in Waikiki you should also check out the Waikiki Shell they have a Hula Show, but you must check with your hotel on the times. On your way towards the Windward side you must drive up towards the Pali Lookout and see the beautiful Windward Side Of O'ahu up there you can see how beautiful the mountains are and the ocean view from there is georgous. As you go through the Pali you either go through Kane'ohe to drive to Polynesian Culture Center along that drive are many pull-offs on the side of the road to take Beautiful Pictures of China Man's Hat at Kualoa Park, this a great place where you can go and take tours on 4-wheelers, they also have Helicopter Rides to see the Kualoa Valley. As you drive on towards P.C.C. don't forget that you have to visit the best surf beach in the world SUNSET BEACH or better known as NORTH SHORE. Now this is the place where you want to be when the sun sets, now thats a KODAK moment. Also why that way you should also drive through the HISTORIC TOWN of HALEIWA. Don't forget to stop by and get the famous SHAVE ICE there, YUM YUM, if you are adventurous ask them for a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream on the bottom of the SHAVE ICE..ok now theres a treat. Ok as you go around that way there is also the Pineapple Plantation, thats another spot you'd may like. If you go towards the west side of the island you will come across a town called Wahiawa thats where you would also find a army base called Schofield. Just past that you then will find yourself going to a Place called Waikele great place for OUTLET SHOPPING. You could also go to the Waianae Coast to see Makaha Beach which where LONG BOARD RIDING is great so are the beaches. Now don't forget to go back to HONOLULU you must go to the SWAP MEET that they have every SAT. & SUN. & WED. that is held at the STADIUM. Hmm...whatelse to tell you to see, you could go and visit my home town of Waimanalo its just another town that goes one way in way out you can go to see SEA LIFE PARK there oh yeah also forgot to mention to see another famous beach while on the north side of the island WAIMEA BAY, while there is also a Waimea Bay Park. Anyways while driving through my home town you also will find your way looking at Makapu'u Beach with a light house as you drive up that hill there is a lookout to take pictures, you can also hike up to the lighthouse. While driving around that bend you will also come across a Sandy's Beach where I recommend going to take pictures of the famous BLOWHOLE that is there, also if you drive out there early enough you may see a MONK SEAL relaxing on the beach in the sun. This is another one of many great beaches to go to besides the infamous WAIKIKI BEACH. I hope this has been helpful for you, have fun. Oh yeah from a local to a visitor to the islands PLEASE PLEASE make sure to KEEP ALL VALUABLES ON YOU AT ALL TIMES. I'm sure there are a lot of thefts where you are from but people tend to look towards tourists so anyhow HAVE FUN oh yeah don't PACK A WHOLE lot because you will be going back home with a lot of souvieners that you thought would be nice to have. Just pack a shorts, t-shirts, your fav bathing suit oh yeah don't forget the SUNBLOCK too. Ok now thats getting to personal sorry bout that but anything to help a tourist visit my beautiful ISLANDS. If there is anything else you need to know feel free to email me.

Miss goddessor suggested many great ideas.I like driving to the west side (waianae to yokohama) & taking a bottle of wine & beers & french bagutte, cheese & fruit & enjoy the sunset. When I lived on Maui for 16 yrs, I experienced the sunset every day for 6 yrs because I worked on the shoreline at 2 jobs. Everything stops for awhile during sunset, sales, restraunts it's like everyone is mesmerized even all of the employees who see it every day. No 2 sunsets are alike. I've seeen the gren flash from Kaanapali Beach & Lahaina Front st.at least 10 times;also on a sunset cruise. any Kine Sunset cruise is a must.I highly reccommend at least a week on Maui But Oahu has just as many spectacular experiences except there i 10 times as many people on Oahu.Hiking up Daimond Head is good, Driving & hiking Tantalus above Honolulu is good.Take a surfing lesson.

Go up to the North Shore, it's the most famous place for surfing. Also, when your driving back to Honolulu, stop just south of North Shore at Waimea Falls Park & see the cliff divers. Also go to Hanauma Bay, it's a cool huge cove that you can walk down to (or ride a little bus) and go snorkeling in crystal clear water & see so many amazing fish. Or you can go to Pearl Harbor & visit the USS Arizona Memorial. You can go to Sea Life Park, it's so beautiful & they have great sea life & fun shows. Go see the Iolani Palace, the only real palace on US soil. You can go to the Polynesian Culture Center, they have a lot of hula dancing & luaus, but it's kinda hokey. If you want to learn about the history of Hawaii you can stop by the Bishop museum in Honolulu, it's great.

I would go to Pearl Harbor, USS Missouri, North Shore, especially Waimea Bay, Shark's Cove, Hanauma Bay, Polynesian Culture Center, Kailua Beach (kayak to the Mokolua Islands), and stay in Waikiki.

One of the best times I had there was going from Oahu to Maui and trying the atlantis Submarine ride. If the undersea world intreges you this is for you. Take the 12:00 tour and on a sunny day you can see everything just like looking out a window. http://www.hawaiiactivities.com/index.cfm?activity=FE858CC6-3FD1-45A1-A72C68304DD8E501
