I am a christian and that is all i've ever known, much like yourself. I love the Lord with all my heart. I genuinely would like to know the basics of islam (in a nutshell, though i am certain that is not possible) I truly respect all others beliefs and faiths and have no judgements for anyone. I just wanna know....

I feel that islam has been unfairly stereo typed by the media. I guess i am just wondering what is true and what is not

Islam is, believing there's no god but Allah and Muhammad is His prophet. Also, believing in all Muhammad told...
Muslims believe, Islam is the last religion and it'll continue till the end of the world. And Koran is the word of Allah.
Muslims believe in, there's a life in our graves and people will be asked for every little thing and believe in apocalypse. And, angels, heaven, hell...
Muslims, also believe that Jesus and Abraham and Moses are prophets... But their religion, were changed by people after so many years! But, Koran won't be changed 'till apocalypse.
A few differences from the Christians beliefs;
Adam was the first Prophet.
Jesus didn't die, he's in the Heavens now, and near the apocalypse, he'll come to world again.
Angels have no gender.
Some worships Muslims perform are;
Praying 5 times a day.
Fasting once a year(in the Arabic month, Ramadan)
For rich Muslims, giving some of(the quantity is definite) their property every year.

You really should find some Islamic people in your area to talk to. Keep in mind that there are many different beliefs among Muslims....just like Christians. Try going to a mosque, they are very nice.

Islam is like Christianity with out Christ. It follows the path of Ishmael (Hagars and Abrahams son) it believes Jesus wasn't the son of God...just a prophet...just like non-Messianic Jews
