Personally, I feel there is no such thing as "jinxing" your mother just because you said she'd die when you turned 18 and wished for her to die. If saying and wishing something could truly make it happen, then everyone would be a millionare, everyone would find the perfect spouse, and no one would ever get diseases like cancer or AIDS or Alzheimer's.
My point in all this is to make you feel better, and to assure you that your words and thoughts alone cannot, and will not, cause your mother to die when you turn 18. I don't feel you have anything to worry about!
HOWEVER, that being said, I do feel it's possible for someone to "will themself" to die, but that's only in extreme cases. For example, the grandparents of a former friend of mine were both elderly and ill. One of them died, and when the remaining spouse found out, he was dead within a few days. I don't think he felt he had anything left to live for. :(
Here's hoping that your mom's health improves, and that your relationship with her continues to be good! :) I'm thinking good thoughts for you both!!

I don't think you are a jinks. What you ended up doing to yourself was think something for so long you convinced yourself that it could happen. If anything were to happen to your mom it wouldn't be because of you. It would be because she was ill. You wished this because you were angry at that time and you believed it could happen because it happened to her sister and brother. Wishing that your mom would die at that age was your way of coping with the anger you had for her. If anything you regret what you thought but you wishing she would die at 52, back then, isn't going to make it happen. Forgive yourself by remembering why you made that wish all those times and how at this moment you have the opportunity to feel free from your past wish and the fact that your mom and has gotten better and is no longer mean.

Only if we mere mortal had that power. People don't pass away simply because someone so wishes. If you are a religious person then you must believe that only GOD decides how long anyone stays on earth. On the other hand, if you are not a religious person and try to see everything logically, you must understand that your mother's poor health is not your doing.
I hope this helps.

No it's just in your mind. Only God knows what will happen to your mom. Put the thought of your mom dying on your 18th birthday out of your mind. Just think of what you will do on your 18th birthday. Convert your fear to positive thoughts.

No matter what you wish for we all have a time to go. It could be tomorrow or in 50 years. So don't worry, when she goes it won't be because of anything you did, unless you kill her.
