I just wanted to know if the pain is comparable to donating blood, a shot, etc., and if you get bruises on your inner arms from it?

I've been donating plasma for almost two years, twice a week. It is comparable to donating blood. You do have a chance of bruising if you are not "stuck" right, but that's happened to me perhaps 5 times. There is slight scarring after a while but it's hardly noticeable. As far as pain, if it is done right you hardly feel it when they put the needle in your vein. Each time you go in, they will prick your finger to test your blood for protein level and look at it for fat content, and hurts a bit. It is so worth donating plasma. It helps so many people and you get paid for it! It takes me 45 minutes to donate the maximum amount of plasma. I make $50 a week, but you can make more, depending on the program in which you are enrolled.

There is no pain in donating blood. I donated blood for a long time then started donating platelets. You shouldn't get a bruise from the needles unless you move your arm alot while they are in place, or if the phlebotomist pokes your vein more then a couple times. If at any time during the procedure, you feel pain or you are uncomfortable, they will stop.

Yes, I've donated plasma, well you get paid for it. Did it back in college for drinking money. It takes longer than donating blood, because they spin out your blood and put your red blood cells back in.
I did get bruises, partially because my veins are hard to stick, they roll a bit and I also think the people who stick you are not that good. They don't get paid very much and have very high turnover if they are any good.
The needle only hurts as it goes in, then you don't feel it anymore. If you need a little extra cash, its easy enough to do and you can read a book while they extract their fluids from you.

The time it takes will depend on the machine that is used. If they have have the latest technology it should take no more than an hour. Wear a sweatshirt cuz you'll get a little cold when the machine returns the uncollected portion of your blood.
You may bruise a little more than normal, but nothing major. If you have a good nurse, you may not bruise at all.
You're saving lives! You ROCK!!!

Yea, it is a long process and not worth the little amount of $$. It took me close to 3 hours for $25. It is no more painful than a shot. Yea, I had bruises.

I have done the apheresis thing where they take out the platelets and put your blood back in.
Both arms have needles in them at the same time.
It depends on the person putting the needles in
Once was bad other times werent so i dont have that person work with me anymore.
