OK all you Googlers...while eating my bowl of chocolate bats, this question occured to me: what was the first cereal to have marshmallows in it, and when was it first sold? Also, do you find crunchy marshmallows delightful or dreadful?

OK, that was not nearly as obscure a truth as I was hoping for, lol. BTW I don't care for Lucky Charms meself, the cereal pieces are too bleh. Although I confess to not having tried the chocolate kind yet...Next time I vow to come up with a more intriguing question, lol!

Love crunchy marshmellows and Lucky Charms(darn it they need to stop adding them!!

Lucky Charms is a popular brand of breakfast cereal produced by the General Mills cereal company. The cereal consists of toasted bits of oat frosted with sugar and multicolored marshmallows in various shapes.

The cereal was invented in 1963 by then vice-president of General Mills, John Holahan. Holahan claimed to have gotten the idea for the cereal when he came across some orange marshmallow peanuts, a candy common in circuses at the time. Holahan cut up several of the peanuts and sprinkled them over Cheerios , another oat-bit cereal, and he "knew we had a winner." Lucky Charms was the first cereal to include marshmallows..

You can use the Rice Krispie recipe for Rice Krispie treats, or make Coco Puff, Froot Loop, Cinnamon Toast Cruch, or even Cap'n Crunch Peanut Butter treats. The marshmallow "sauce" can be used to bind your favorite cereal together. Press into a greased pan and cut into bars

My earliest encounter with the said product would probably be "Lucky Charms". And no I wouldn't describe crunchy marshmallows as magically delicious.
