I have honestly lost 130lbs on atkins, i went from a size 28 to a size 7-8. Im 24 and it took me a year to do it. I got married 2 yrs. ago and gained most of it back, now im back on it. Im down to 160. The diet works great for ME and my cholesterol is 102. (maybe cause im so young) You do gain the weight back QUICK but you have to watch out in the maintance phase, dont add back too many carbs or the weight will creep back quickly.

First of all, Atkins died from a head injury after a fall.

Second, Atkins diet is one of the worst diets out there. I did the diet for 2 months. I lost 25 pounds in 2 weeks. Then nothing. I stopped the diet and switched to another diet that had carbs. I gained 40 pounds in one week and it took 4 years before I could lose it. The diet destroyed my thyroid and now I am taking medication for the rest of my life. The weight you lose is from dehydration, not fat loss. Read his book and he will tell you that you can gain 5 pounds in one day if you go off the diet.

Don't do atkins. You should never cut carbs out of your diet.
Did you hear, Dr. Atkins (the creator of atkins diet) died of a heart attack like 2-3 years ago.
In a balanced diet--you need good carbs--like wheat bread, whole wheats and oats, etc. And fruits and veggies are keys to a healthy diet...
