no, you are the parent and are responsible to teach your child to be healthy. Would you let them use crack because they wanted to? I hope not.

It depends on his age. If he has just recently hit puberty, he is probably going through an identity crisis. If he was previously really skinny, he's probably trying to overcome the stereotype of the skinny kid. I tried to get fat one summer when I was 14 and it didn't work because I have a crazy metabolism. If he has a good metabolism, he'll be fine. No matter what, though, healthy foods are a must. Make a deal with him. He can eat as much as he wants from the healthy cabinet, but he can only have one-three (your discretion) items from the unhealthy cabinet per day. Put things like organic yogurt (Brown Cow is awesome), fruits & veggies, and veggie burgers (Morning Star Farms is great) in the healthy one. Either way, make sure you're supportive and tell him that getting too overweight will give him serious problems for the rest of his life, but that you love him no matter what.

What in the living world are you talking about? Why would a child want to get fat? Are you or his father fat? Is he trying to emulate someone he admires? Get that child some mental help as soon as possible! If you don't, you could be found to be an abusive, and neglectful parent for which social services could take him from you! Be responsible and do what a responsible parent does!!!
The above concern is dependent upon the size of the child to begin with. Is he emaciated? Is he not being fed adequately? You need professional advice, immediately!!!

Umm... no, and there has to be something else going on for a child to want to get fat. It is true that your child will eat behind your back if you try to control what he eats, but you can make it harder by only having healthy foods in the house and no junk. And you should consider taking the child to a psychologist, because this could be a cry for help.

If your child said he would drink beer with or without you, would you buy him a six pack? Let him know the health complications of obesity, and if he is just concerned about "bulking up" (as some self concious boys are) help him with going to the gym or something healthier. Fat isn't always the same as "weight".

There is no good way to get fat. Why does he want to be fat, and how old is he? Continue giving him healthy food, and show him the right way to eat, nt the right way to get fat. With obesity and type two diabetes reaching epidemic levels, creating even worse problems like heart disease and gastronomic problems, it's not OK for someone to willfully and stupidly get fat.
ranting aside, find the best way to talk to him about this. let him know you love him no matter what, but that this isn't OK.

Why does he want to get fat? He should be healthy. And eat healthy food. I dont know your son, but i don't believe that anyone would just want to get fat. I think you should politly ask him why he wants to be fat. It is probably something deeper, like he has a low self esteem and if he says that he acts like he wants to be fat or even tells himself that he wants to be fat he can cover up his real problems with his weight. Or it could be something as simple as he wants to be a wrestler. Well i guess what i am trying to say is you cant really solve the problem until you know WHY he wants to be fat.

Being fat is so common now a days. Wanting to let him get fat is unacceptable. That would cause so many health problems for in the future. If he just wants to put weight on you need to do it the healthy way.

it will be unhealthy to "get him fat' in anyway. Even if you let him eat healthy foods, but too much of them, it is unhealthy for the child. There are too many health risks to worry about to just let them get fat. Maybe you should share these concerns with your child, show them the information on healty weight and BMI for their age, etc. I don't believe that we should all strive to be underweight and stick thin, but I don't thnk we should strive to be overweight either. Eathing healthy and exercising should be a part of everyone's day. Good luck!

No fat is fat rather you do it with healthy foods or not. Being fat is not healthy and getting him fat on healthy foods is the same as getting him fat on fatty foods. My daughter is 4 years old and she is starting to get fat and I have to stop her from eating sometimes because she wants to eat all the time. good luck

Why would your child want to be fat?
Not only would he be phyically unhealthy - sounds like he's either confused or psychologically unhealthy, too. And if you feed into his confusion, he surely will only become more confused about how things in life work.
If you child wanted to cut off one of his arms would you try to show him the best way to do that?
You need to set him down and get to the bottom of what's in his head and replace those ideas with better ones.
