This is a difficult question. Some people say that women should be preachers because God will use who He wants. I think a woman can be a preacher if she doesn't hold authority over a man. Meaning, she can preach to and teach children, adolescents and other women, but the Bible is clear that the man is the head. A woman should not be pastor over a church or be a teacher over a man. And yes, as my name says, I'm female. I've struggled with this for some time. No one on earth could give me an answer. From most folks, I got the answer I wanted, which was yes, a woman can be a preacher, but after studying the Word, I've come to the conclusion that a woman cannot preach to or be the authority over a man.

The Bible says women are not qualified to be preachers. They are only to teach the younger women. The Bible calls women the "weaker vessel" and we are not to preach or teach to men. Mainly, the qualifications of a preacher or pastor, is that they are the "husband" of one wife. It is impossible for a woman to be a husband. You all are right that God does and will use women to accomplish great things. Women have various ministries in the church and the community, but preaching will never be one of those ministries that God ordained.

Yes. Women should be quiet in church and submissive to the men who run the church according to the Bible. However, many were traveling prophets of the Word.(ie Mary Magdalene after Jesus' crucifiction) And of course during the journey through the desert, there were 50 Mothers of the Church who would preach to the women (and some men) about the virtue of God and woman's place in His Divine Plan.

That's certainly a controversial topic. I fall down on the side of Yea on that one because I have seen the benefits of great women teachers and preachers (Nancy Ortberg comes to mind, but there are others).
Dr. Gilbert Bilzekian has a great book on that subject.

I think women are just as knowledgeable as men in the pulpit. I find that people who think a woman can't be a value as a preacher is too closed minded to live in the 21st century.

when it says authority it doesn't mean what you think. As a leadership role -that is what it is, in the early church there were women who were in church hierarchy such as widows and unmarried woman. They couldn't be a bishops because it was a role of leadership and since woman do not Authority over men. They were deaconess until men decided that this was inappropriate in their eyes. you also have to look at the life of Paul who was raised as a Pharisees to understand why he says what he says
There are woman who educate children at bible school isn't it silly to say that after they are too old to for bible school that a woman has to stop and say okay I can't teach you any more because you are a man, isn't that silly.
If a woman is called by God to because a minister who is to question her.

Well kind of , according to the Bible women cannot have a spiritual place over a man, however they could lead Bible studies,be a pastor or whatever else, but only over other women. I'm not trying to cut women down by any means, but I listen to the Bible and that's what its says.

Women preach or teach? YES! - but to serve as a Pastor or overseer in the Church? No. Absolutely not. It's an affront to God's set order in the Church.

Bible clearly says no. But bible is flawed so who cares. Women were leading the church until Peter & Co. got their grubby hands on it. Church was left to Thomas and the Magdalene, not Peter & writers of Paul. Original Christianity was way ahead of its time, that's why it got corrupted and females got the crap end of the stick.
