Hyperthyroidism is when your thyroid gland is producing too much of the thyroid hormone. This usually caused by a problem with the thyroid gland itself - over producing the hormone. it can also be caused secondarilly when the pitutary gland overproduces TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone).
symptoms include heat intolerance, high blood pressure and heart rate, high metabolism, and sometimes a condition where the eyes kinda "bug" out.
hypothyroidism is a deficiency in thyroid hormone. symtoms include sluggishness, cold intolerance, low metabolism/heart rate, increased weight, mental dulling

I was diagnosed as hypothyroid by my doctor about 2 1/2 years ago. No matter how we tweaked the Levothyroxin, I continued to experience bloating, painful trapped gas, post-nasal drip and congestion, which I had been experiencing all my life (I am 49 years old) and extreme fatigue which had been on-going for a few years. I didn't seem to be able to get enough sleep, couldn't make it through a day at the office and only wanted to sleep all the time. Starting the diet in early November brought about immediate positive results. ALL the above-mentioned symptoms literally disappeared!! I was so excited I would wake up early each morning, ready to meet the day. THANK YOU for all you've introduced me to, https://vids.im/Hypothyroidism-Treatment-tmg . I thank God for your research...

Hyperthyroidism is when your thyroid over produces. Hypothyroidism is when your thyroid under produces. Graves disease is a form of hyperthyroidism in which they remove your thyroid through radiation or surgery. Either way, meds for the rest of your life. :^(

i know this one because i have it. if it is severe it's called graves disease, that's what i have. the body produces way more thyroid hormone than it needs and causes accelerated heart rate and extremely high metabolism, trouble sleeping and cramps in the calves. the heart gets weak and radiation is the only treatment.
