Why would a person who wants to be left alone with respect to the issue of religious belief be hanging out in the Religion and Spirituality section of Yahoo Answers?

Well, I believe in God. I don't try to press my faith on others, because everyone is an individual and have their own faith. Still, Jesus was a model who encouraged us to share with friends our love of God. I think many people really benefit from faith, it can help them when they face death, or need to understand the hard things in life, so sometimes I think people are better off in facing the hard challenges in life when they know they are not alone. Still, you can NEVER MAKE anyone believe in God, it is not our place. We must understand eachother no matter what our differences, and do our best to be kind and do what is right at the right time...
God Bless You ♥ :]
I do hope you find peace and can ignore those who annoyingly oppress their religion on you, just keep your chin up, and know that the only way someone can find God is in their own heart, not through the trap of someone elses.

Because they want power over you. What could be more powerful than changing someone else's mind? We are suppose to have freewill according to some people. That means we can choose to believe and or not believe. Some people who do believe in God may think that God wants more converts and it is their mission to annoy as many people as they can. May be they think if they bother enough people they will get one to change their mind. How powerful that might make them feel that they changed someones mind to their point of view. Like many people try on this web site on a variety of topics.

Were not trying to make them believe were just stating that their is a God and you will be judge by him according to your actions during your life time you should repent and have faith that their is,it is just for the best but if you do not want to believe that's on your own self,if you Rather be left alone you need to let it be known.

God is God. You don't have to believe, so don't. Even if someone preaches to you all the time, actions speak louder than words. So look at the actions of God's children, not their words. I am not perfect, nor do I want to be. Just that I know that I am a believer in God and know that he forgives me when I screw up and I can do that really well.

I've never had someone "push" God on me. The only people, in my experience, that have felt a need to talk about God are the ones who had "lost their way" and were changed by their experience with God. I am happy for them, and would not blame them for trying to convey their good experience. There is definitely a line that should be drawn. Just because they lost there way, It doesn't mean they have to save everyone else. It is a very personal thing and it should be handled delicately.

Most people really do think they're doing the right thing, and a good thing at that. They are misguided in their efforts and often approach the situation inappropriately. Furthermore, they are blinded by their concepts of good deeds and excited by the prospect of salvation for those strangers, so they don't stop to think how their words are being received and/or interpreted by others.

Simply put, people really do believe they're doing a good thing. You've probably heard the saying: the road to Hell is paved with good intentions...

p.s. Sorry! I just realized your question was directed towards nonbelievers. I hope you don't mind my two cents having been thrown in (I am Christian). =)

Because we are commanded by Jesus to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Believe me it would be easier for us if we didn't have that commission because we take a lot of abuse but we do it and accept the abuse in hope that some of you will listen and God will give you repentance leading to truth and you may be saved. The Bible calls that love and Jesus was the prime example of abuse.

I myself am a believer in God, but am not a Christian. I believe in the One Universal Spirit. Now, in my opinion, fundamentalists have two reasons for spreading the word: they will go to hell if they don't, and it helps to validate their own beliefs (whether u agree or disagree-probably even more so if u argue). Anywho, I personally do not run up and down the streets screaming about what I believe. Though I do want to spread the love that I have found b/c I am so passionate about it. I imagine many others feel the same. Spread the love, man! But the best way to achieve this is certainly not by words but by actions - how we live our lives, how we give to others, and by our own fulfillment others will come to want the same. (through his/her individual path)

Perhaps its because we care about your sorry self and don't want to you go down in flames with the rest of creation when the end comes. How bout that...Nobuddy likes to be preached at..cuz what is that..critizisim..its say.."Hey you are screwed up." Who likes that...so we ignore it..our screwed-uped-ness and wallow in our distracted lives never doing much about it...whats the alternative...well, that's what "believers" preach to you about which I won't do here..not cuz I don't care but because I think you don't..I will pray for you though. Hey if you were about to walk off a cliff..wouldn't you want someone to stop you and turn you the other way? If you are teetering on the precipace..and most are..its not to late to step back..opps..preaching..sorry..gotta go. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

They probably think they are doing god's work by spreading it's message. Some say they are just trying to help but, I don't believe that. If they really cared about helping people they would give 10% of their income to charity instead of a church.
