If it's been going on for almost three years. (keep in mind it's not for me but for a friend)

Yes, she definitely needs professional help. I had the same problem, but luckily I came to see how bad it was for me. You have to remember though, that no matter how badly you want her or him to stop doing it, it is all up to them. If they don't want help nothing they or you do will help. If they are ready for help, there are many places where they can go and stay for months to get the mental and physical help that they need. I was in one for several months, but I almost think it was worse for me than just seeing a therapist. The girls in those places make it seem like a competition to see who is the worst/sickest. Whatever ends up happening, just remember to be there when they need you. It's a hard battle - one that does not end just because they've gotten professional help. It's a lifelong struggle. Good luck!

bulimia is a very serious food disorder. Like any kind of disease (provoked) one needs professional help... and lots of support by family and friends.... She will need accept that she has a problem and want to get help. I knew a girl like this and I really did try to help but the best way is if your in school with here talk to a counselor. U might be the only one that knows. like in my case I was the only one that knew but didn't know that at the time... had i known what i know now i wouldn't ave done more to help her. but i didn't and now that horrible disease took her life. i feel bad every time i here here name whether people talk about here or not... Just the name Nicole brings back a lot of memories... i would say try as much as u can to help your friend... she needs it.. u never know when she will go away.... good luck

yes there is a way to stop it. your friend has to reach a point where he/she is tired and can't take it anymore. At that point a therapist, friend and family support are of utmost importance. But your friend must be ready to say i can't take it anymore. until she/he reaches that point, the only way it will stop unfortunately is when she/he gets throat cancer which is irreversible and she won't be able to swallow anything anymore. all the acid from vomiting up food eats away at the throat lining until there is nothing left.

For 3 yrs??? thank god your friend is alive....the only way to stop it is getting medical attention. Your friends body is already used to the bulemic actions....if your friend is really serious, (s)he needs to see a professional....maybe starting off with a psychologist
