I had eye surgery a few times when I was a kid in Houston, TX in the 1960s. I'm sure the doctors who operated are either long-retired or dead. There's no pressing medical need to get them, but I am curious to know exactly what the surgeons did. Any ideas about where to start?

You need to know the hospital or facility where the surgery took place, then contact the medical records department (also known as HIMS) and see if the records are on microfilm, archived or electronically scanned. most places keep the information for a period of time one paper in case they get sued then they convert the records electronically

How about where you had the treatment done, like the hospital and the name of it. It would seem likely they would have it in there medical archives. It would be advantagess for you to start with that. If that doesn't work, then I would try to track down the doctor or the clinic where he or she worked out of. Most clinics also have back medical records.

Call the doctor's office and sign a medical release form. It may take a couple of week because the records may be in storgage, if they haven't been destroyed by now.

Talk to your parents and get the names of the doctors, then check to find the if they were with a clinic or if they were private. Good luck.
