YES Catholics do have Jesus in their hearts. If you don't believe me, go to Mass on a Sunday, my husband went with m over easter and he couldn't believe it! So, before you want to criticize someone else's religious beliefs, see for yourself

There are patron saints, for example St. Francais was the patron saint of animals and St. Jude for lost causes. They were special in the church and are held in high regard. It is assumed if you are praying that Jesus is already in your heart. As to whether or not you should be praying to specific individuals like the Virgin Mary ot St. Whomever. I really don't know for sure that you should or not. I believe you pray to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

I agree...to us non-catholics it looks pretty much like an idol when people have statues that they are praying in front of. These same catholics might condemn "heathens" praying to idols, but for a third person they look the same as the very "heathens" they condemn!

Let me see if I can answer this for you...

I know Jesus is in my heart and I have already asked him to help guide my daily life, however, when a hardship arises, in addition to praying to Jesus and asking him for what I need, I turn to his Holy Mother, VIRGIN MARY. Why? Because in addition to praying and asking Jesus for help, I am asking his mother, in my case, to aid me in asking Jesus to help me with my problem. I believe that Jesus loved his mother , and by me asking her to help me, she too will pray to Jesus to help resolve my problem...

I can easily ask another Saint, not a statue. The meaning of the statue is for a visual purpose only!

I hope this will aid in your question!

Catholics have different statues because there have been many great Christians who have lived. All these people are in heaven with God. Jesus is not in heaven by himself. We ask other people in heaven to pray for us THROUGH JESUS. Jesus lets them share in his mediation. All their power comes from the fact that they get it from God in heaven.

GOD, HAS MADE IT VERY CLEAR ABOUT US COMMUNICATING WITH THE DEAD. AND THAT'S A TOTAL NO,NO.
NOW JESUS CHRIST ALSO MADE THIS VERY CLEAR, WHEN HE SAID LET THE DEAD BURY THE DEAD, AND THIS VERY IMPORTANT STATEMENT.... THE ONLY TO THE FATHER IS THRU ME.
