Is a guy still a virgin until he has vaginal intercourse, or do other things count as taking away his virginity. Such as oral sex or other types of sex play that isn't penetration?

i think that a guy can be a virgin until the actual intercourse cause that is the main part of losing your virginity. In a way, it's up to the male and his partners. Society in general might say that until the male has meaningful vaginal penetration and perhaps ejaculation he is still a virgin. What is "meaningful"? That's for each person to say.

Sex is sex, whether it's vaginal or not. Check out Loveline with Dr. Drew, he gets calls like that all the time.

It depends on how you interpret the concept of "virginity", I guess.
But to answer your question from a more generic viewpoint, I would say that a guy is a virgin until he has actually "done it" with a girl... you know, the classic way.

I wouldn't call oral as loosing your virginity, it has to be penetration.Think about it this way a girl can't get pregnant giving oral and haw do you get pregnant, sex.

Nope, you have to have penetration in order to be considered as no longer a virgin.

Oral sex is still sex. YOu can't have oral sex with someone else and not consider it cheating. Sex is sex , no matter what kind it is.
