IF Adam and Eve had eaten from the tree of life they would have been given Eternal Life. It is spelled out right in Gensis. It doesn't signify anything greater, espically considering they weren't able to get to it.

My understanding is that in the Celtic religion it represents reaching up (branches) towards the future (sky) with your past (roots) already planted;
and that most religions have their own tree of life;
in Christianity, there is one mentioned in Genesis, but Adam & Eve never use it for reasons unknown, it (the Bible) says it's b/c they ate of the Tree of Knowledge of good & evil first & were kicked out, but supposedly, both were warned they would die if they touched either tree (would they have considered death 'bad' at the time?) but didn't bother to go to get eternal life first

The hebraic tree of life signifies the passage of the soul through the pathways of the firmament.
To understand it you really need to research into kabalism or western esoteric tradition.

Immortality. If you ate of the fruit, you would live forever. This is why God set a guard around the tree so that they would not live forever in a sinful state. Genesis 3:24

First seen in Genesis, lastly in Revelation. The leaves are for the healing of the nations.

When Adam was created, God placed in the garden of Eden “the tree of life.” (Ge 2:9) This tree evidently had no intrinsic life-giving qualities in its fruit, but it represented God’s guarantee of life “to time indefinite” to the one whom God would allow to eat of its fruit. Since the tree was put there by God for some purpose, undoubtedly Adam would have been permitted to eat this fruit after proving faithful to a point that God considered satisfactory and sufficient. When Adam transgressed, he was prevented from having opportunity to eat from the tree, God saying: “Now in order that he may not put his hand out and actually take fruit also from the tree of life and eat and live to time indefinite,—.” Then God followed his words with action. He would not allow one unworthy of life to live in the garden made for righteous persons and to eat of the tree of life.—Ge 3:22, 23.

eternal life, like we were supposed to have, that's why they were kicked out before they could eat from that tree also so we wouldn't live forever imperfectly.
