Being stressed out too much is harmful to your health. It can lead to a lot of complications including physical health and mental health. Choosing not to deal with the past will eventually be too stressful. If she chooses not to get counseling, then at least go to a Barnes and Noble and look up some self help books. Buy a few and go to a quite place where there is not a lot of distractions (like nature). Find some peace or resolve with what's going on and set some goals for the future. Eventually, when the time is right find someone that you can confide in to tell about....a pastor, friend, etc.

Get over not wanting counseling and get help. She's not bad, weird, crazy, etc... for needing the help- she was abused for crying out loud! She needs to be able to talk to a professional who understands the type of issues she is dealing with. If she just shoves it all down she will keep having problems until she deals with it and learns to heal and grow past it. Everyday people with no training or knowledge in this area are not going to know what to do to help her.
It's not easy or simple, it hurts and takes time but at least healing can be done. If it's ignored then there's no healing and it'll come out in other ways (crying, depression, and much worse)

being too stressed out can cause mental harm and physical harm to you. The best thing she could do is seek advice of a psychiatrist or a counseler. DO not force her into it though. Although you could tell her you would go with her, because you really want for her to get better. And just be open and available for her to come to with her problems.

She needs to speak to someone - this is far too much for her to cope with alone and she may well end up harming herself. If she doesn't want to go for counselling, try and persuade her to at least phone the Samaritans or a similar organisation. Calls are entirely confidential and it will help.

She needs friends to talk to, people that care about her, and hopefully to seek counseling. She may benefit by going on anti depressants, a life altering traumatic event can disrupt the brain's chemical levels and balances, and many times chemical, medicinal treatment is necessary to help her overcome the depression.

First of all, being stressed out can harm you because my boyfriend got really stressed out this year in school and he suffered physically...he would get really bad stomach problems all the time and it really upset me. Second, I think your friend should seek counseling, and as long as you are there to talk to your friend, that is one of the best things she has.
