I am generally an after work runner. When I was training twice a day the morning run was a secondary run and I just plodded along. I did not feel ready to dash into some fast training that early in the morning, 6am. I think for my serious runs I performed better in the late afternoon/ early evening. I could mentally prepare for that run during the day.

i personally like running between 11pm and 12 midnight. the weather has cooled down a bit, less traffic, no sun, no waking up early, just the pure passion of running.
(and you sleep better when you're tired at night)
