I found a Great Pyrenees at a local fast food resteraunt beggin for food and trying to get into peoples cars with them. She was emaciated, pregnant, flea ridden, matted, dirty, exhausted, etc. She has since had her pups, spayed, and been through heartworm treatment. She is an absolute angel, you could not ever find a nicer, calmer, sweeter, more trusting dog anywhere. I have 13 other dogs but am having trouble naming this one for some reason. I want something unique, original, that reflects her good nature. Any suggestions?

Sabine, it's a french name since Great Pyrenees are a french breed. It comes from a italian name Sabina. The Sabines were an ancient people who were taken over by the Romans after several wars. According to legend, the romans abducted some of the sabine women, and the men went after them, trying to save them. The women were the ones who ended up making peace between the tw groups who had fought for years. So Sabine is a very noble name

First I hope that you reported that you found her to the local animal control. I take my hat off to someone who is willing to take a stray into their home and treat them with kindness. I would say that your dog is "LUCKY" to have found you. And since you stated that she was nice and calm, sweet and trusting I would also say what a "LADY" she is. You did also state that she is an "ANGEL". So I would incorporate what I knew about her and I would name her "LUCKY LADY", or "ANGEL LADY". Then again since she did have a litter of puppies I guess she is a "MOMMA" too. You have plenty of things to name this dog you just have to find out what matches her the best. Good Luck!

The other responces are really great, but they are also pretty common. Maybe you could type them in on a language translator site and see if any of the words sound like a good name in another language.

Glad you found this wonderful dog and gave her a good home. Maybe you could name her Hope. Sunshine. Princess. Daisy.
