Aliester Crowley was a Ceremonial Magus, His System is Known as Thelema, and he was invloved in the Golden Dawn , the A* A* (asteris argentum or silver star) and the O.T.O. they are not Satanic organizations. They work with Angels actually...Crowley got his reputation for being known as "the great beast" ( a title which he reveled in) and the "Wickedest man in the world" mostly through the press, and publications, "warning" young women not to join in his "sex cult" ( sexual magic is explored in Thelema)
In Addition to being a famous occultist, he was also a mountain climber, and a Master of the game of chess...He is BROADLY misunderstood! even by some in the pagan community. He was a brilliant writer & Poet, he was also unfortunatley a drug addict...but hey... nobodys perfect... does that make him satanic? well it depends if you believe that summoning Angels is satanic...But some are of the mindset that if it is not christan (even though none of the organizations are necessarily 'religious' persay) then it is of the devil... so i guess it depends on your perspective... but from my perspective no Aliester Crowley was not Satanic

Yes. He was also not a real Freemason. He also took the Rosicrucian tradition he acquired the information about from the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn in some unpleasant directions. I believe, whatever one thinks about those esoteric traditions, he warped them. The major problem with Crowley's passing off "Thelema" (which is simply Greek for "will") as Masonic is that it demands allegiance to a specific set of religious doctrines -- his.

No he devised his own magical system called Thellma. People often mistakingly refer to him as satanic for 2 reasons. The first reason is that he was quoted as calling himself the beast666. He did this mainly for shock and controversy I am guessing.
The other reason is because The church of Satan founded by Lavey borrowed much of its philosophy and ritual work from the system Crowley had devised.

No, not really. Crowley dabbled in many things, including Satanism. What he was was someone who liked shock value more than anything else.

In short...no. But depends on you definition of "satanic". There are many versions of satanism. Crowley was an occultist who dabbled in many mystery religions and secret societies, but not a Satanist in the truest sense.

I presume we are discussing Allistair Crowley. If that's the case, he himself said he was a Satanist so I would guess the answer is Yes.

He would have made Satan very uneasy. Lets just leave it at that.
