I usually have an idea of how much I planned on spending and base the tip on that.
I generally pay $20 to get my hair cut. Sometimes I go to a place that charges $15, so I tip the lady $5. Other times, I go to a barber that only charges $9, so he ends up with an $11 tip when I don't think about it. If I remember how much he charges, I usually only pay $15.
When I go out to eat, I generally do the same thing as a hair cut. I generally look at leaving a $5-12 tip.
Cab Drivers are tipped the change to the next $5 or $10 interval.
When I go to a bar, I tip $1 for every trip to the bar. If I order more than 4 drinks at once, I tip $2.
I tip the pizza guy at least $3.
At buffets, I only leave $2.
I am located in the US. So, you can adjust exchange rates accordingly if you are not.

I definitely tip based on service.
For horrible service I tip 10%
For decent service I tip 15%
For great service I tip 20%
and at my fav restaurant when the service is awesome, I have been known to tip 25-35%.
I also know the difference between problems with the server and problems with the kitchen. I don't hold a server accountable for errors in the kitchen.
I have often been told I over-tip, but I myself could never wait table because of all the jerks that are in this world, so I figure for every person that over-tips, there are half a dozen who under-tip or don't tip at all.

I tip at least 20% for any type of server. Being in the business for 5 yrs as both a server and bartender, I know some of the bull the servers have to put up with. I think I may have left a 15% for a pretty bad server, I have never walked out and not tipped, or left a penny. Shows no class what-so-ever, and they only thing it really does is let that server and all the rest remember your face, that way you'll get a nice surprise next time you visit. If the server is awesome, has a great personality, and keeps up on refills and stuff like that, the tip goes up.

If I really like the service I tip 20%. Service from bad to average I tip 15%. I know waiter makes close to nothing so I'd still give 15% if even if the service is bad. I think I tipped 10% once or twice before but that's only if the service is totally horrendous (combination of bad food/slow service/rude waiter).

I pretty much always tip a minimum of 15%, just because I know that the server probably really needs the money and it's so hard to get by these days. If I get good service, you can expect a 20% tip from me. And I'm a college student, so it's not like I have money to throw around, I just feel like it's the right thing to do.

Tip is dependent on the service received. The range of tip amount can vary depending on the service. ranges from 10%-20%. I usually tip 15% everytime for mediocre service, 20% for great service and less or more for service that was otherwise.

It is up to you. If you are with a couple split the bill and the tip. It depends a lot on the service. The worst tip to leave is a penny and that is only if they ignored you but knew you where there. it is usually based on the restaurant. how many stars does it have. Most 5 star restaurant require at least 15%. If it is a truck stop 10%. If your bill is 23.48 for example, you would tip the server 2.34 cents. I was a waitress for 4 years.

Generally speaking, I tip double what the tax is. But that depends on what your state's sales tax is. Simply put, 15%, is what I give for plain jane, good service. If its mediocre, I might not even leave a tip. If its exceptional service, I'm talking like everything was on the money, my glass is never empty, I dont have to ask for my bill, my order was 100% complete, or if it is at all, the waiter or waitress has something comped, I'll go over the 15% rule. If the service was good also, I leave cash. Depending on how strict their employer is, they dont have to claim cash.

First, I will avoid ANY and ALL resterants that aplly a gratuity to the bill. I feel I am being forced to tip at a specific amount when I might getting Sh*ty service. But If I get Sh*ty service I'll give like 10%. If I get good service I tip20% and up to 25%. BUT If I get extremely good service garanteed that the waiter/waittress will get 25% and up. I am not cheap by any means.
