After Karl Marx discovered how his communist theory had been altered from his original intentions, he replied that he was not a Marxist. If Jesus examined Christianity as it currently stands, would he say he's a Christian?

That's improperly worded, but I see what you mean. Jesus is the Son of God, so He would never be a Christian, or a follower of Christ. Doesn't work.

I think the right question is if He would claim 'ownership' of those who call themselves Christians. The Bible says some will 'knock on heaven's gates' crying Lord, Lord, we cast out devils in your name, healed the sick. . .etc. . .and He will reply to them, "Depart from me . . . I never knew you." No, He wouldn't claim a lot of so called Christians.

That's why the Bible says to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. It's about knowing Jesus, loving Him with all your heart, soul and mind, serving Him the same way, loving others the same way. It's about being truly Christ like.

Many, many people who dare to call themselves Christians don't have the first clue. . . it's so sad.

Probably not. He would most likely retain His Jewishness and claim He is a Jew. I don't believe He would recognize a religion that has caused so many wars, death, and destruction in His name or want anything to do with it, just like Marx and communism. Jesus preached love and even though most Christians say they follow Jesus's teachings they don't. Look at all the different denominations of Christianity. Jesus would be puzzled at the fact that over 100 different sects claim to represnt what He taught mankind. He taught only one version of His love. There has to be only one true religion of the teachings of Christ. Which one is it? Which one did He establish on earth? People are going to have to research for themselves.

That's actually a really good question.

Jesus was actually a Jew when he walked the Earth, so he wasn't "Christian" to begin with. Jesus' original intent was to save the Jews from sin, and when they rejected him, it was extended to Gentiles as well. This is where Christ started "the church," for example, starting with Peter and the disciples. So if you ask would Jesus approve of the church as it stands today, of course not. The church has become a human institution full of errors, bad doctrine, heresies, and worse. It is fractured into thousands of denominations beyond recognition. There are pedophilic priests, cults, gossip in churches, declining membership, and multitudes of other problems. However, Jesus would approve of those loyal members who do keep the faith and perservere with the church despite all its human problems.

You know, I always thought Jesus was a proto-Communist. Some of the Communist Manfisto's beliefs mirror Christ's teachings to a degree.

As Christianity stands now, he would be more a Buddhist.

Good question! Jesus was Jewish when He was here on earth. A Christian is a follower of Christ. Since He is Christ He doesn't follow Himself but He is the ultimate teacher and He would continue to preach the same way. Being Jewish He told Jews about their shortcomings, what they should do to be saved, etc and I think He would do so for people now. His teachings are the same just as mans tendancy to not fully follow them are the same.

I believe Jesus was a true historical figure, a teacher, a fully evolved soul, as were Krsna, Buddha, and Mohammed and all (or most of) the other personalities humans have revered through time.

I think he would be absolutely appalled at what some people have done in his name; the hatred, the intolerance, the utter absence of compassion perpetuated by humans who purport to have a personal relationship with him would literally break his heart. No, I don't think he'd espouse the same values as those who call themselves christians. I think he'd try to set them straight.

Jesus IS Christ. Christianity is about Jesus, so essentially, Jesus would claim to be a follower of the Living God, Our Father in Heaven. That being said, the majority of christians make me ashamed to call myself one. Jesus is not a philosophy, he is not a way of life, he came that we may HAVE life, and have it more abundantly.
Buddha was a good man, and it has been said that when he died, he told the people not to worship him, but adhere to his philosophies. Unfortunately, Buddha's words fell on deaf ears, and now there is a religion based on him. Buddha would not call himself a buddhist.
This being said, Buddha was a mere mortal man. Jesus was more than a man. Living God's Word on our own does nothing, but with Jesus living inside of you, ALL things are possible.
Anyway, the answer to the question, Jesus would call himself a christian. Christians serve God, his Father. I will stop now.

Probably not, but then He never did. The term Christians wasn't used until after his death (see Acts - chapter 9 I think). He was a Jew, but did not believe in differences. Jesus came as savior for all and if all would follow Him in the way He directs, there would be no need for divisions of religion or even sect/denominations. All religious labels are man-made and not of God.

Jesus was a Jew and would claim to be nothing more or less. Christainity as it stands today is an abomination and an affront to all his teachings and I am positive that he would denounce it. We've talked about this sort of thing..god and jesus and I and they tell me that the truth is the search for knowledge not blind faith.

Oh I read the first few answers in response to this question...I notice many found your clear question incomprehensible...scary scary scary...the best response to is lash out at you! nice christian girl sheesh!

We should consider the fact not just the word. The fact is that Jesus preached to believe in one God. Jesus worshipped one True God. Jesus prayed to God( he even fell on his face and prostrated, bible - Matthew 26:39). Jesus preached ten commandments which are found in the teachings of Islam also. Jesus prohibited pork, wine, blood, dead meat or any food on which any name besides God has been taken. Jesus prohibited adultery, fornication. Jesus practiced circumcision (bible - Luke 2:21), Jesus greeted by saying "peace be on you" (Luke 24:36) same as muslims greet i.e. Assalamoalikum means peace be on you, and last but not least, he prohibits Shirk i.e. Associating partners with God almighty (bible Mark 12:29). The teachings of Christianity was never taught by Jesus. Jesus never said that "he is God". Jesus never said that he came to die for the sins of the world. what Jesus preached,, i mentioned above..So all these teachings are part of Islam. So Jesus was a muslim.
