Actually some popes are canonized. John Paul is undergoing the process now whereby you have to perform 2 miracles. I believe that he cured a nun of Parkinson's disease for one.

It's specifically the Catholics that do that. One must have also led an exemplary life as well.

WE are the saints now. We as christians are not only servants of God, but friends. Catholicism is a whole different thing in itself. I am not certain that Catholicism totally lines up with the bible. That is a whole other question though, but the reason I feel this way is b/c for starters, praying on beads is a muslim tradition that the early Catholic Church adopted.
Anyway, in Luke, Jesus stated to the disciples, "As the Father has sent me, so send I you." As well as, "these things I do, you shall do also, and greater than these will you do." Peter was only able to heal others b/c he had Jesus living inside of him. When you have the promises of God, you also receive the power of God.

Good question. Saints are in the Bible. Paul refers to all saved people as saints. There was no canonization to specifically denote some people as saints. That is a Roman Catholic tradition, not Biblical.

Peter as in Jesus's disciple Peter?? He was definitely in the Bible! you have to read it....Popes can't perform miracles....only GOD can, but GOD also works through people.....St. Peter didn't have the power to cure people, but he let himself be available to GOD, so GOD worked through him to heal others.....do you get what I mean??

Because they don't have the Holy Spirit of God in them. They aren't born again Christians. And Peter (normal sinning human) tried to be Christ like but knew he wasn't and it was the Holy Spirit that healed not him.
