Well, I see a couple of errors in your question. Actually, several errors. Noah and Lot were never destroyed, and they were in the Old Testament. Noah was the only righteous person on the Earth and so was allowed to build the Ark to survive the Flood. Lot was in Soddom and Gommorah, and in the same storyline as Abraham, years after the Flood. The only one destroyed was Lot's wife, who was turned into a pillar of salt because she looked back at the cities as the Lord was destroying them.
The part about babies' bibs is interesting. Where have you seen Lot on a baby's bib? I can imagine Noah's ark with a little rainbow on one, but not Lot.
As far as the actual question, which seems to be related to salvation in the New Testament vs. the Old Testament (pre-Christ), the answer is fairly clear. In the New Testament, salvation is counted to anyone who confesses Jesus Christ as Lord. In the Old Testament, faith was still important. The prime example is Abraham, whose "faith was counted to him as righteousness" and so was allowed entry into heaven. Before Christ, having total trust in God Almighty and following his given law was the way into heaven.

Huh? Lot and Noah died hundreds of years before any of the events described in the New Testament. I have never seen Lot on a baby's bib either.

What in the world are you talking about? Lot and Noah are in the Old Testament. Your question is unclear. Jesus is the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy.

I'm not sure what you're getting at, but the Bible offers a lot more hope than that

How could they have followed Jesus anywhere? They weren't alive when Jesus walked the Earth.
