Good point, I'm sure they will all say - "Because we're JUSTIFIED in killing to save lives!" Didn't your Jesus preach to "Turn the other cheek?"

That's a great question, and has been around for years.

The unfortunate thing is that the Bible teaches that it is a sin to kill people, to turn the other cheek, treat people as you would have them treat you, etc. It also teaches that evil exists and must be fought. There's war stories all over the Bible, with godly men fighting on the "right" side with God's favor and protection, and evil men fighting on the wrong side, who walls came tumbling down or eyes blinded, etc.

Little David was in God's favor and killed Giant Goliath, not so well liked by God I guess. Probably a heathen of some type. But we all think of that event as a great accomplishment for David, not a sin.

So while Christians are taught not to kill, they are also taught that fighting and killing for the right cause makes you a better person. That seems pretty strange, but just about every religion has taught it's people to embrace their brothers (people of the same religion) and smite evil doers (people of other religions).

Properly translated, the verse is, "Thou shalt not murder."

Defense of innocent people and yourself has been acknowledge for thousands of years as justified reasons for killing.

The “just war” doctrine requires rigorous consideration to determine if defense by military force is legitimate.

Offensive war is never justified.

All the following considerations must be true to justify war:
1. The damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave, and certain;
2. All other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective;
3. There must be serious prospects of success;
4. The use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated.

With love in Christ.

Christians do not initiate wars. Politicians do, and they have no religion. If they did, a world would be a place where instead grenades, we would be making food and medicine for the third world countries. Instead of fighting jets, there would be heavy transporters of that same food that we made because we were blessed with the great soil that grows anything. People are brain washed by TV. It is so horrible, that I could cry any given minute.

it really is an excellent question, and has been round for years. the unlucky element is that the Bible teaches that that's a sin to kill human beings, to illustrate the different cheek, manage human beings as you would have them manage you, etc. It also teaches that evil exists and could be fought. there is conflict memories everywhere in the Bible, with godly adult men struggling with on the "proper" aspect with God's choose and protection, and evil adult men struggling with on the incorrect aspect, who walls got here tumbling down or eyes blinded, etc. Little David replaced into in God's choose and killed widespread Goliath, no longer so properly beloved by ability of God i wager. probable a heathen of a few form. yet all of us imagine of that adventure as an excellent accomplishment for David, no longer a sin. So at the same time as Christians are taught no longer to kill, also they are taught that struggling with and killing for the right reason makes you a better appropriate human being. That looks particularly unusual, yet just about each faith has taught it really is human beings to include their brothers (human beings of a similar faith) and smite evil doers (human beings of different religions).

Its ok to kill people when they are not the same as you, right? That is the message that I am getting.

I think that it is ironic that we think Sadaam is such a bad man for killing thousands of his own people when we are killing exponentially more people than that with out actions.

This is a good question and I hope that it makes all of these "believers" think about what it is they are doing. You are right on the ball with this one. Good job.

I can't wait to read the answers to this question and watch people quote scripture and what not. They are so brainwashed, perhaps more than the radical muslims are in regards to their religion. What a double standard.

You ask questions that you are not spiritually mature enough to understand. you are not a christian, so you pick and choose scriptures to attack the word of God with His own words. Read the bible, and study it like you are supposed to.

Let's say your baking a cake for example, and you only recognize one ingredient in the recipie. It the egg. You put the egg in the cake pan after mixiing it up, but you leave out the rest of the ingredients, and put that cake pan into the oven to bake your cake. Afterwards you take out your cake pan, and all you have is a baked egg, and no cake. You left out the other important ingredients and you failed to complete the cake. Reading the bible is the same concept. you have to read, study, pray, read study , and pray your way thorugh the bible. God will reveal only what you are spiritually mature enough to handle.

"thou shalt not kill" is a commandment referring to 'empty' killing. god also gave the command to kill anyman who took another mans life for a situation like jealousy. god holds man's life above all else, and if someone takes a life with out just cause, and i mean true just cause, they must be killed to protect other innocent lives. war is an important part too. god helped the isrealites win battels for their country. i cannont remeber exaclty how, but god also has siad that it is proper to defend your country...that is how christians support war

So I suppose you are not in favor of protecting those who are being abused and mistreated by those stronger and more powerful than them. You would notstep in and assist a child being beaten up by someone bigger. I suppose you would have let Hitler continue with his plans if you had been in charge.. you have a strainge understanding of justice and looking out ofr your brother. The question is not one of supporting war but of practicing justice for others. Would you let someone hurt your family member or would you use force to stop them?

you realize there were wars in the bible? the translation is though shall not kill without a reason i think. the jews couldnt punish some1 who accidently murdered some1 in the OT if you read deeper into it. they had cities they would let those ppl flee to for that purpose. obviously God killed but He has a good reason too when He does it. dont know, hope that helps ya out
