Type O or Offset
Click on Object to be offset
Type in distance to offset
Click on side to offset

1. locate a base point that you know the distance between the 2 objects.
2. move both objects to that base point relative to the relationship between them.
3. Type move and select one of the objects.
4. Select the base point
5. type "@(distance between base point relation)>(angle to move object that distance) enter
i.e. @45<0 means move object 45 units the direction 0 (or in autocad 0 is 3 o'clock 90 is 12 o'clock 180 is 9 o'clock and 270 is 6 o'clock

Not sure, but here's a roundabout way to do it...
With the "snap to objects" on, draw a line from a specific point on one object, and make the line the distance you want to be between the two objects. Then select the entire other object and drag it so the right point "snaps" to the end of the line.
