As an atheist, I've always been intrigued by religion. Being a recovering Catholic, Lutheran, and Baptist I've always been curious about the differences in beliefs between the major religions and their respective religious sects.

This is addressed to believers of ALL faiths: Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Pagans, Wiccans, et al.

Are atheists seen as being the devil's (or evil's) work? If so, why? ALSO, please tell me what category of faith you are in your answer.

Thanks.

As a Wiccan, I don't believe in the devil, so no, I don't think atheism is "the devil's work."

As for evil, no again. Wicca has a policy of tolerance for others beliefs, or lack thereof. I personally feel that we are all trying to muddle through this life as best we can, and we all come to different conclusions. One person's path to the "Truth" (regarding religion, the afterlife, etc.) is no more or less valid than the next person's, even though those paths may differ.

Actually, the saying "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions." is a better answer to this question. The worst imps of the Devil have always been those who believed they were doing "God's work" or "The Common Good". Just look at history and see what I mean. Atheists have nothing to do with the ills of the world any more than all the other faiths. It's the people that's the problem. Religion is only as good as those who follow it and don't throw in their own agendas or idiocy.

And I'm an Apathetic Agnostic. I don't know if there's a God...and I really don't care. I have other more pressing matters to attend to.

I hope this answers your question.

Believers basically??? what sort of communicate board is this? in case you suspect something which you're advised, incredibly whilst you're advised it frequently adequate, then you definately will have faith all that nonsense approximately atheists which you quote. it is nonsense. Atheists are basically a extensive array of trouble-free people who greater healthy into the demographics plenty comparable to non secular-freaks do. I communicate for myself basically yet you purely be attentive to that I additionally communicate for hundreds of atheists ... i'm no longer basically able to love, i'm an particularly emotional and romantic guy or woman. i'm very plenty WITH morals and particularly the different of the inmates of your jails, the place the majority are christians. i'm very trouble-free to ascertain - i'm no longer a teenage insurrection (i'm sixty six!!!!!) so i'm niot a reject, nerd, emo, punk, goth or something out of the traditional, purely as, returned, hundreds of different atheists are. Heretic? Please!!! devil-sworshipper? i do no longer settle for that the devil exists so why could I 'worship' it? I deny the existence of ANY god, as they have continually been, via the history of mankind, guy-made innovations. This modern-day one isn't any diverse. Are you suggesting that Zeus and all the different minor gods have been easily actual? i do no longer settle for the existence of a soul. The soul is yet another guy-made invention, created to describe to historical guy how one gets from the lifeless physique to the non-existent heaven. Very conveniently, no-one has ever seen one because of the fact, proper answer to back up a lie, it particularly is INVISIBLE!!! there's no easily information that any god exists. If there have been, it could have been paraded throughout the streets and made front website information ... it on no account has and on no account will. If I advised you that there became a team of invisible blue monkeys who controlled mankind's destiny, you may think of i became nuts. same applies. purely yet another self belief trick. i might might desire to jot down a e book to back up the declare and that i might might desire to do it some thousand years in the past to earnings any credibility ... Now I do recognize that I even have used words that are directed on the questioner, which, it is going to become obvious, isn't the 'aim'. So, soak it up no count if it is meant for the subsequent jesus-freak reader.

I am a Christian who believes that the Bible is truth. I also believe that there is a lot we don't know, so to take everything as literal is dangerous. However, Biblical scholars have spend hundreds of years translating the texts and have placed as much historic context in place as possible so that we can better understand what is mean and which parts are meant to be taken literally.

Having said that, atheists are simply people. Are they the devil's work? If you mean by that are they tempted and tricked into carrying our Satan's plans, I would say my answer is yes. But don't feel alone. Satan uses everyone who gives in to his/her temptations in order to advance his plan, not just atheists.

Actually, I think many atheists are closer to belief than they would like to admit. s a former atheist myself, I now see how closely I cam to the answers of Christianity and how they paralleled my reasoning even though I would vehemently deny any connection between them.

Does that make my answer correct? Is it more or less valid than others? It's just my view and I hope you will seek the truth, because as a seeker I know that all who seek will eventually find.

As a disciple of Jesus I find it interesting how many atheists come from a religious background.
My challenge for you would be to see where these modern religions grew away from the faith and truth found in the Bible. Religion, and I mean any religion that has been or will be, evolves and changes because we humans add our own perspective, desires, frustrations and prejudices to God's truths. And in one generation, let alone centuries, the truth becomes anything but. So try to study the Bible without taking into account what the modern religious 'scholars' have to say. Even pray to God for discerment- (I know you profess to be an atheist, but there is no harm in a silent prayer to know the truth). I think truth is what matters, not our personal agenda or emotional convictions.
If atheists are considered evil, I think that could be found in the fact that Satan wanted to be like God, and when he couldn't, he set out to deceive others. He didnt accept the truth about Creator (power to be God) vs. creation (unable to be God), ie. he didnt accept the truth. And many consider it a basic truth that God exists, and that this world is a temporary place created by an eternal God.
Hope this helps! :)

None of the major faiths today have been proven to be the correct one. They also cannot be disproven through large and rational paradoxes which is one reason why they persist. Everything you see and touch had to come from somewhere though. Whether or not you believe that it was some consciousness that created everything out of sheer will is up to you and anybody that says otherwise wants your money to propagate their own beliefs.

I would guess that im a spiritualist, because I believe that organized religion is the real devil and it has killed and persecuted more people than any other organization or single disease in the written history of mankind.

I don't see atheists as the devils work but I would say being an atheist is under the devils work because the devil decieves, twist, and destroys lives. You are under the decieved but you would probably think I am decieved too so. You ask what I think and being a Born Again Christian that's what I believe.

Well, I'm a Christian and to what my understanding is: "Yes".

Atheists 'could' be viewed as blinded by Satan; (and thus:) "devil's work."

2 Corinthians 4:4 says: " The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

"god of this age" - refers to Satan (who also provokes worldly driven priorities...ie.: love of money, greed, fame, popularity, etc...)

(the rest is self explanitory)

***Also, and probably more importantly, Christians view faith as the type of thing where:

"if you're not serving God, than you're automatically serving
Satan!" (whether you believe in him, or not)

(which is probably why atheist could be viewed as such...they don't believe in anything.)

No atheist are not evil, they just choose not to believe in something that can not be scientifically proven. People who go to church are to weak to think for themselves, and allow another person to teach them about something they themselves can not accurately teach or prove.

Religion is based on the teachings of a bible, but what bible is the correct one? What religion is the correct one? What go is the correct god?

Religion is selfish. Each religion states that their religion is the best, and many wars have happend in the name of religion.

It has been historically proven that Jesus did exsist, but it is much harder to prove that there is a god especially a loving god.

I do not believe in any religion and I refuse to allow anyone to preach to me. I have my beliefs and they are private to me.

Agnostic would be my answer if I had to identify.
I think the religion field was mandatory for signing up, so I just put that down.
I used to class myself as an atheist but I felt that it didn't accurately describe my beliefs.
